Over time batteries would cost less than a generator,fuel and maintenance.

-Is it the up front cost of getting batteries holding you back from quiet maintenance free? Batteries get 6000+ cycles so avg size battery at 9.6 kwh charged from grid at 15 cent per kwh is $1.44 per day (6000 days $9000.00) plus system around $5100 and you have power for 6000 days for around $14100.

-For generator you would probably need 2 over 6000 days around $3000 for 2 generator and fuel $9 per day for 6000 days would cost around $54000 for total cost around $57000 without maintenance cost.
