Running around like mad this morning trying to get all the things done with zero minutes. Unfortunately swapped cars with husband but forgot to take kids school stuff out, had to rush to hai work to get the school stuff, the. Home to do chores before headed to my 9am commitment. Ran to barnyard and smelled fire, short search found an extension cord smoking! 🤦🏼‍♀️ got everything unplugged and safe before it was so much worse! The cord is fully buried in mud and I wouldn’t have even known it was there if it weren’t smoking!
Friendly reminder to check all outside cords if you’re like me and have cords that have been buried by nature and chickens scratching and have forgotten they even exist! 🤦🏼‍♀️

After a conversation with someone the other day I thought I’d share a tip here that works great for our kitchen. If you hae an over abundance of eggs and know fall/winter slow down is coming… crack them open, scramble them, and freeze into ice cubes. Once frozen pop into ziplock. I measure out 1-3 eggs per cube and label the bag. This helps when I’m doing winter baking and don’t want to use that last fresh egg I was saving for tomorrow morning.
It’s very common that all chickens will slow down, some hard stop for winter. Be ready with eggs in the freezer.

We have hard water, sometimes I forget to add a splash of vinegar to the canner.. like today! This causes a buildup on the outside of the jars. A simple slash of vinegar in the water saves me time scrubbing the jars.
Don’t waste time scrubbing jars when you can just use vinegar.
I was kind of rushing to get this batch in this morning before school drop off since I will be gone all day today and tomorrow. I didn’t want this sauce simmering for 4 days! Now I will just hae to scrub them when I wipe before storing in pantry.
