Potatoes with Onions (So Delicious, Tastier than Meat!)
Ingredients
3 medium potatoes, peeled and grated
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 carrot, grated
5 cloves garlic, minced
100 g cheese, grated (any melting cheese like mozzarella or cheddar)
1 bunch spring onions, chopped
1 egg
Salt, to taste
3 tablespoons flour
Sunflower oil, for frying
Directions
Prepare the vegetables
Grate the potatoes and carrot, then squeeze out excess water using a clean towel or paper towel.
Slice the onion thinly, mince the garlic, and chop the spring onions.
Mix the batter
In a large bowl, combine potatoes, carrot, onion, garlic, grated cheese, and spring onions.
Add the egg, flour, and salt. Mix until everything is well combined into a thick batter.
Heat the oil
In a frying pan, heat sunflower oil over medium heat. Make sure the oil covers the bottom well.
Fry the patties
Scoop spoonfuls of the mixture and drop them into the hot pan.
Flatten slightly with the back of a spoon to form small pancakes or fritters.
Fry for about 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
Drain and serve
Place the fried potato-onion patties on paper towels to remove excess oil.
Serve hot with sour cream, yogurt dip, or just as they are — they’re delicious!
Tips
For extra crunch, coat the patties lightly in breadcrumbs before frying.
Add chili flakes or black pepper for a spicier version.
Works great as a side dish, snack, or even the main course.
