HAPPY NATIONAL INVENTORS MONTH!
Born on May 17, 1940, American computer scientist Alan Kay is considered to be the “Father of Personal Computers”. In the 1970’s Kay invented the Dynabook, a key progenitor of laptops, tablets, and the e-book. Additionally, he was the architect of the modern overlapping windowing graphical user interface (GUI) and led the team that created the programming languages Smalltalk and Squeak.
In 2004, he was awarded the ACM A.M. Turing Award, aka the “Nobel Prize of Computing”.
