And a fat white man with a bag full of presents wasn’t walking through those dark hallways without getting robbed. The staircase is where the addicts dwell. What once served as an elevator was now a restroom, that reeked of urine and f***s, and the walls in the hallways became blank canvases for amateur graffiti artist. This was the hood. This was my home. A beautiful ugly.
