Business owners, please be careful who you work with.
I recently hosted a Vogue-themed 40th birthday celebration at Dream Room Venue. My team and I delivered a fully completed, five-hour event, dΓ©cor, setup, adjustments, last-minute changes, multiple free upgrades, everything. The client and her guests danced, celebrated, and enjoyed the night from start to finish. Not one concern, not one complaint.
Almost two weeks later, with zero communication from her and no indication of dissatisfaction, I suddenly received a dispute for thousands of dollars claiming the services were βnot as described.β
Let me be clear:
Camera footage, vendor statements, and documentation all confirm that the event was delivered exactly as agreed upon- including verified vendor arrival and departure times, which I was even accused of lying about until the footage proved otherwise.
I normally donβt share situations like this, but I know too many small businesses who get hit with the same behavior. These false disputes hurt us- financially, emotionally, and operationally. Her actions have now made me reconsider accepting credit card payments going forward because the risk of fraudulent disputes has become too high.
We give our time, our creativity, our labor, our hearts⦠and for someone to celebrate fully and then attempt to take the money back is beyond disappointing. It speaks to character.
Entrepreneurs: protect yourselves.
Document everything.
Trust your policies.
And know your worth.
