🚧 Ground Broken for Future Deaconess Illinois EMS Facility in Marion 🚑
Deaconess Illinois EMS officially held its EMS Building Groundbreaking on Friday morning at the Deaconess Illinois Medical Center campus at 3333 West DeYoung Street in Marion, marking an exciting step forward for emergency medical services in our region.
The ceremony began with a Welcome & Opening Prayer from Advisory Board Member Darrell Wimberly, followed by Opening Remarks from Illinois Region President William Davis. Attendees also heard an overview of the EMS vision and impact from EMS Manager Todd Test, along with remarks highlighting the local and rural importance of the project from City of Marion Mayor Mike Absher and DIL Union County CEO Harry Brockus.
Chief Operating Officer Amanda Throgmorton introduced the ceremonial groundbreaking, where leaders, partners, and community stakeholders participated in the official photo opportunity and first shovel turn to celebrate the future facility.
The new EMS building represents a continued investment in faster response, enhanced emergency care, and expanded healthcare infrastructure for Marion and surrounding Southern Illinois communities.
