Happy Pub Day to A Love Once Lost! 🥳

In 'A Love Once Lost' bestselling historical romance author Jennie Goutet weaves a story of lost love and second chances against the scenic backdrop of Georgian-era Europe.

Perfect for fans of:
✨️ Georgian Era Romances
✨️ Second Chances
✨️ European Grand Tour
✨️ Well Research Historical Fiction
✨️ Family Sagas
✨️ Sister Bonds
✨️ No Spice

Mini Review:

A Love Once Lost is the first book in the Bridwells' Grand Tour series which revolves around the three Bridwell sisters. Book one tells the story of oldest sister Amy and James Fletcher, her first love who she's never forgotten. Set within the historic region of Spa in the Austrian Netherlands (later Belgium), where the Bridwells' have come to take the waters, our protagonists come face to face for the first time in over six years.

I love a well researched historical romance and A Love Once Lost is certainly that. It was obvious the author did her due diligence when it came to the town of Spa, the structures present during the book's timeframe, the social activities of The Quality, and on the healing waters themselves. I appreciate the attention to historical detail the novel has. Nothing is lacking here.

When a kangaroo mother turns into a zombie what's the little roo trapped inside her pouch to do?
Find out in Does A Kangaroo Have A Mother, Too?

Ok. So that's not really the story, but I honestly cannot be the only one who thinks Mama Kangaroo looks like a zombie. The crazy eyes, mouth hanging open, and dangling arms scream "Zombie!" to me. 🧟‍♀️

Anyhow, this maybe zombie, maybe not illustrated kids book is lurking inside Gram's Garden Little Free Library.

Come and grab it if you dare!

While you’re there check out all the other fantastic books on the free library shelves. Leave a book or two as well if you can. Take a book, Share a book is more than a motto. It's the lifeblood of all Little Free Libraries.

Community libraries only work with community involvement. ✌️

❓️Would you rather be kicked by a kangaroo or wrestle with a wombat? (Yes that question is ridiculous, but most QOTD are boring)

Celebrate Pride Month With Great Books 🏳️‍🌈 📚 🏳️‍⚧️

Pick up this great Pride read at Gram's Garden Little Free Library:

Shapes of Love by L.V. Peñalba is a YA contemporary fiction released in 2026 by Wednesday Books

My thoughts:

Shapes of Love is a thoughtfully written novel that explores the multitude of ways love can be expressed and how society limits these expressions through preconceived labels and definitions around relationship types. As Sasha struggles with her PR straight girl image, her authentic aroace self, and the rabid fans who dissect every song she's written and assigned their own meanings to, you truly feel for her.

Preconceived ideas around relationships, worthiness and lack of belonging when we don't fit into those boxes is a reccuring theme throughout. As is the pressure of being forced into maintaining a false public persona mandated by the studio in order to be more marketable.

With themes of found family, sexual identity, being true to oneself, and not allowing others to mandate how you love Penalba has crafted a heartfelt and deeply moving story that begs the reader to create their own Shapes of Love and fearlessly share them with the world. (Full review on Goodreads)

What are the two most innovative tools every writer needs in order to take their writing to the next level?

A thesaurus and a dictionary.

That's it. Put these two together with the inherent creativity of a human with a willingness to write and you have all the tools necessary.

The greatest literature ever created wasn't assisted by any technology other than imagination and dedication to writing.

Twain, the Bronte's, Shakespeare, Morrison, and so many others were capable of producing great works without generative AI. They didn’t need technology to improve their writing. They simply wrote. Some of them didn't even have the benefit of dictionaries or a thesaurus because they hadn't been compiled yet!

I support real writers. Those who hone their craft through the act of writing. Not those who claim to be writers while having AI do all of or part of the work.

➡️ Shout out to all the amazing authors, publishers, and reviewers who refuse to utilize or support Gen-AI

A children's book in honor of Juneteenth is in Gram's Garden Little Free Library.

Opal Lee and What It Means To Be Free is a beautifully illustrated children's book about the Grandmother of Juneteenth, Opal Lee herself.

About this book:

Every year, Opal looked forward to the Juneteenth picnic—a drumming, dancing, delicious party. She knew from Granddaddy Zak's stories that Juneteenth celebrated the day the freedom news of President Lincoln'' Emancipation Proclamation finally sailed into Texas in 1865—over two years after the president had declared it!

But Opal didn't always see freedom in her Texas town. Then one Juneteenth day when Opal was twelve years old, an angry crowd burned down her brand-new home. This wasn't freedom at all. She had to do something! But could one person's voice make a difference? Could Opal bring about national recognition of Juneteenth?

Follow Opal Lee as she fights to improve the future by honoring the past.
