Description: The world is not made for mothers.
Yet mothers made the world…

Clove has gone to extremes to keep her past a secret. Thanks to her lies, she’s landed the life of her dreams, complete with a safe husband and two adoring children who will never know the terror that was routine in her own childhood. If her buried anxiety threatens to breach the surface, Clove (if that is really her name) focuses on finding the right supplement, the right gratitude meditation.

But when she receives a letter from a women’s prison in California, her past comes screeching into the present, entangling her in a dangerous game with memory and the people she thought she had outrun. As we race between her precarious present-day life in Portland, Oregon and her childhood in a Waikiki high-rise with her mother and father, Clove is forced to finally unravel the defining day of her life. How did she survive that day, and what will it take to end the cycle of violence? Will the truth undo her, or could it ultimately save her?

Before getting to the restock, a PSA:

👉 PLEASE be sure you latch the door! It's as easy to latch as it is to unlatch, so there's zero reason not to do it.

👉 As much as we appreciate book donations, moldy, torn and chewed on books belong in your ecycling bin, not the library. Oh, and the kids book that included a dirty face mask? Just gross 😝 The Ewwww factor on that one was HIGH, folks!

Book Mail Monday 🥳

A big thank you to and for The Hollywood Fix! I'm looking forward to being on Kate's Book Tour for this one, and sharing a review with the Bookstagram community!

The Hollywood Fix
Richard Kirshenbaum
Post Hill Press
December 2025 release

Description: During Hollywood’s Golden Age, a destitute young man, Bartie Maddox, journeys to Los Angeles and, through his wits, hard work, and talent, becomes the PR fixer to the most important film studio and its studio chief, Solomon Myers. Through his experienced lens, Bartie influences the lives and creation of some of the world’s greatest Duke Drake, Carroll Madison, Mirielle Montaigne, and the heiress, Grace Greystone, La Marquise de Faucigny, exposing how their images are created, managed, and intersect through the Great War and glamor of Tinseltown.

This masterful and sweeping novel is based on true stories from the studio system era and PR machines which have not only created legends but exposed the dirty business of keeping the stars shiny and clean. Bartie’s intricate fixes involve endless scandals of money, s*x, captivating personas and even the cover-up of death. But in the end, Bartie’s own studio fix becomes the greatest fix of all.

Book Mail Monday! 🥳

🧁German Heritage Baking, Volume 1
🍰 Heidrun Metzler
🥧Metzler Books, 277 pages with full color illustrations

I cannot express how happy I was to receive a copy of German Heritage Baking in the mail. My maternal great-grandfather came to the US from Germany in the early 1900's, and my Nana was the first in her family to be born here. She, and her siblings (my great-uncles), all had what we call "The German Sweet Tooth" because they all loved their desserts so much!

I fondly recall her baking sponge cake roll, cookies, beautiful multilayer cakes and more. Some of which are incredibly similar to the recipes in the book.

The book itself is absolutely gorgeous, with beautiful photos, colorful pages, perfectly described recipes, an an abundance of baking tips. Nana would've loved this cookbook as much as I do. As much as you will too!

📚 Thank you to for gifting the book!

👉 Yes, that's my Nana & Pa in the framed photo. Showing off my German Heritage alongside the book 💜

New Review!

The Baby Dragon Cafe
A.T. Qureshi
HarperCollins Publishers

🗨 Thoughts: When I started this I was absolutely in love with it all, unfortunately that didn't last. It is a sweet, cute read, but it lacked a little something. I loved Sparky, Saphira, Aiden, and the cafe itself. The side characters are great too and played off each other well. You can easily see this one story contains the seeds for the others in the series.

Everything in their world felt ordinary though. There was no world building at all. Ordinary town. Ordinary jobs. Ordinary lives. Basically the world we live in with dragons thrown in. But, even the dragons felt ordinary, like dogs more than the amazing creatures they are. Too many references to things from the real world, like podcasts, Howl's Moving Castle, Flat Whites, Lattes, mutton curry. Where's the magical feel of a world inhabited by dragons and those who ride them? The overall feel reads modern Indian culture more than anything.

There wasn't any emotional depth or tension at all. Even during parts that were meant to have a heightened sense of those things, it was lacking. So while the storyline itself was great, the ex*****on fell a bit flat as it unfolded. Everything resolved itself far too easily as well. No matter what challenge was faced, it was resolved almost too perfectly instantly. Lackluster in it's overall vibe.

3 ⭐️ and that's mostly because Sparky, the baby dragon, was so cute!

Cover Reveal for Where the Heart Meets the Sea!

I am so excited to read this one! The novel has the most gorgeous and atmospheric real life setting! Check out these photos and you'll see what I mean!

Where the Heart Meets the Sea by author Kimbra Drake will be out on January 20, 2026. Definitely add this one to your pre-order list!

Description: An emotionally rich love story with themes of lost and found family in a stunning Norwegian island setting.

Twenty-nine-year-old Ella Nilsen has never known her parents—or even how her mother died. Raised by her emotionally distant Norwegian grandmother, Hilda, Ella has long accepted that the topic of her parents is off-limits. WhenHilda passes away, Ella is shocked to find that her inheritance includes a summer cottage perched above the sea in a place called Lyngør, a remote island in Norway. To sell it, she’ll have to visit the cottage and take stock of what’s there—and maybe Lyngør holds the key to her mother’s mysterious passing, if she can get the locals to talk.

For as long as he can remember, Leif Arnesen, a thirty-four-year-old boatbuilder in Lyngør, has carried grief and shame from his father’s death, an accident that upended their small community. When Ella breezes into Lyngør looking for answers, her very presence stirs up old ghosts and earns her the villagers’ suspicions. As sparks begin to fly between Leif and Ella and their relationship blossoms quickly, everything Leif knows to be true threatens to capsize.

Perfect for fans of Jennifer Probst’s Our Italian Summer and set amid the rough and wild beauty of the Norwegian archipelagoes, Kimbra Drake’s Where the Heart Meets the Sea asks what happens when we’re forced to rewrite the stories that have defined our lives—and what we do with the next chapters
