Earlier this week, students met on Zoom for an interactive workshop hosted by SLFP. During the session, they learned about the PERMAH framework (Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment, and Health), and explored how it can be applied in both personal and professional contexts.

On Nov 20 the club Equity for All held a bake sale in Jamrich called the Wage Gap bake sale to spread awareness about the wage gap issue in America.

All of the Proceeds went to the Marquette Women’s Center. Customers were asked to pay the equivalent of what they make working for every dollar a white man makes.

As NMU PD has been keeping a lid on information, only releasing information due to the federal Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, students have become afraid to be on campus and feel the need for NMU PD and NMU as a whole to be more open with their investigations.

Earlier this semester, the North Wind was investigating a serial sexual assaulter, filing a FOIA and requesting information from the Northern Michigan University Police Department. Information was very limited, and many questions have gone unanswered. Since then, there have been reports of NMU stude...

When I go out in public with no makeup on I feel like I’m half naked, and the cops will come and arrest me any minute. The most rewarding aspect of this journey has been looking at the mirror. Now when I look in the mirror I see myself, not someone I’m trying to be.

Everyday starts the same for me. I wake up to the annoying sound of my alarm clock, struggle to make it to my bathroom because I can’t see and then I put my contacts in. Only, one day a few weeks ago something changed. Instead of looking at myself in the mirror and telling myself...

A year ago, Northern Michigan men’s soccer was sitting at the bottom of the GLIAC standings. Today, they’re sitting on top of the conference. With a late second-half strike from sophomore Tyler Kowalczyk, the No. 3 seeded Wildcats capped off their improbable turnaround and secured the first GLIA...

Swimming in college taught me discipline, endurance and precision, but it also taught me fear. Read the full article to learn how Liam has "realized that some victories are more meaningful when they can’t be measured at all."

I’ve spent most of my life chasing numbers. In the pool, the sharp scent of chlorine hits me before I even see the lanes. My goggles fog up as the rest winds down, and every lap is timed, every stroke counted. In the pool, every practice, every lap, every stroke is measured. The clock ticks...

On Thursday, November 13, Johnson read from his newly released works before a room full of eager listeners, carrying with him not only decades of craft but also the legacy of his father, Ron Johnson, whose influence on NMU’s creative writing program still resonates throughout campus.

Jonathan Johnson is not your average visiting writer. When he stepped up to the podium in Jamrich for the Visiting Writers Series, he wasn’t just sharing his work with the Northern community; he was returning to the place that shaped him into the writer he is today. On Thursday, November 13, Johns...

As the snow hits and fall fades into winter, the fall sports season comes to an end. This weekend will be the final regular season game for the NMU volleyball team, with hopes of a postseason run next week. The Wildcats swept both GLIAC teams they hosted, clinching their spot in the GLIAC Championship Tournament. Heading into the final weekend of the regular season the Wildcats sit at 13-13.

On Tuesday night, EcoReps held a sewing and mending workshop in Jamrich to expand the horizons both of their club and the NMU community. “We want to involve other clubs on campus, especially new and growing ones, so we can find ways to make sustainable events,” said EcoReps Director Taryn Anders...
