Updated: One confirmed dead in North Main Street crash

Authorities are investigating a fatal accident on North Main Street on Sunday afternoon. It happened around 2:45 p.m.

Authorities confirmed the driver of the vehicle involved was the deceased victim. The identity of the individual was being withheld until next of kin could be notified.

No injuries were reported inside the residence that was affected.

Witnesses report a car was weaving as it traveled northbound past Elwood Avenue.

One eye witness told me it appeared the driver was incapacitated and not in control of the vehicle, which hit the front porch of the home at 609 North Main Street.

The front porch collapsed on the car and debris damaged another vehicle in the driveway.

The Coroner's Office was called the scene and North Main between Holly Drive and Elwood Avenue was closed for several hours as authorities investigated the incident. It was reopened around 6:15 p.m.

The investigation scene, marked with tape, measured most of the distance between Elwood Avenue and the place where the car came to a stop.
