Good morning and happy Sunday, friends! Have you ever seen a starling itch it's chin feathers? 😂

Well, we're finally back to posting in the morning! With the new wildbirds app there's been some busy nights lately and i've been cutting it a little close but we haven't missed a day!

One wild thing about Starlings. Every single European Starling in North America descended from just 80 birds released in New York City's Central Park in 1890. Today there are an estimated 200 million of them from Alaska to Mexico. That is one of the most remarkable population explosions in bird history.

Good evening and happy Saturday, friends!

This little one was out there this today with its wings spread and beak wide open waiting to be fed. Dad was running around like crazy all day taking care of them all week.

Here is something that puts it all in perspective. Once the fledglings are nearly ready to leave the nest, the female moves on to prepare for the next brood. That leaves the male to handle all the feeding on his own until the young ones can take care of themselves. So yeah. Dad is probably tired. Dad is doing a lot right now. 😂

Ol Blue doing what Ol Blue does. Just out here looking like a whole moment.

One thing we learned - the oldest known wild Blue Jay lived to be at least 26 years and 11 months old. For a backyard bird that is remarkable. Some birds just have that energy.

Good evening & Happy Thursday, friends! After work, I went outside to hang out with the birds and decompress a bit and this Red-winged blackbird stopped by. I was kind of glad because I wasn't sure if you guys would go for three straight days of Goldfinches. 🤣

The lighting was hitting just right tonight. It's days like today that we look forward to all winter long. Absolutely beautiful.

Good evening & Happy Taco Tuesday, friends!

The goldfinches haven't been around as much. But as I was filming tonight, I saw this one get knocked off his little finch feeder by a sparrow and two red-winged blackbirds (male AND female).

I remember back in the winter they'd sit on that feeder all day long. Eat through as much as they could.

This is what we call the Double Decker Trifecta! Yes, we normally only share one bird on zen but what can you do.

That sparrow was trying to sneak in and get some food for the little ones.

I love how the red-bellied woodpecker knows what it has with that beak! 🤣😂

Then there’s the Red-winged blackbird and you can catch a glimpse of his patch a bit.

It’s the last day of Mental Health Awareness month and I hope the conversation doesn’t stop there.

If I could go back, I would’ve gotten help sooner because it didn’t need to get to that point.

What I learned from going out to the park is that I really need a tripod to do any sort of video 😂. So, we'll share more photos of those adventures unless I get extremely lucky. For now, here is Ole Blue with the lighting hitting just right.
