Pick's at Portage Lakes held their annual "End of Summer Bash" with the "Spazmatics"" band and movie night on the patio on September 6th, 2020. This was such a blast for all ages with ice cream & popsicles from Stoddard's Custard Cruiser (www.StoddardsFrozenCustard.com) along with water guns provided by Pick's staff for the kids and yes, the adults too! Everyone used common sense while social distancing making this an event that makes is all thinking of Fall with leaves turning their beautiful colors, sitting by a bonfire on Falls cool nights while praying this pandemic will be a miserable & distance memory in the coming months.

Fun times at the Canal Fulton Canoe Livery.
Never a dull moment on the Tuscarawas River.
Frog joins some canoers, Grasshopper needing a drink of spring water at reservation desk and our favorite ladies "Ohio's Dragon Dream Team" having a fun day on the water.

Please read about them below and give the page a "LIKE" at: www.facebook.com/DragonDreamTeam/ or check out their website at: www.dragondreamteam.org/

The Dragon Dream Team is Ohio’s first group of breast cancer survivors participating in the team sport of dragon boating. Inspired by the courage of the dragon and the power of the paddle, our mission is to support and care for each other, increase self-esteem, physical and emotional wellness through paddling. The Dragon Dream Team demonstrates that life after breast cancer can be full, active and beyond all expectations. Our “Boatloads of Hope” community outreach program offers encouragement and support to breast cancer survivors and their families during the treatment phase of their cancer journey by the delivery of pashminas in area hospitals and cancer facilities, along with a powerful message of hope. The Dragon Dream Team is a 501(c)(3) organization.

I first met Dick Goddard on the Hoolihan and Big Chuck show in 1973 when I was 13 and I had the pleasure of working with him many times in the years that came. You were a true gentleman and the wisdom you showed me will always stand the test of time for me in all I do.
Your legacy will be carried on for the rest of time.
God Bless you and your family my friend.

What's Up Ohio

CommQuest held their ribbon cutting event February 21st, 2020 to open their new state-of-the-art “Withdrawal Management Unit in Aultman Hospital”.

Opening a facility that will provide hope and healing to those that deserve it, is a win-win for the community for those seeking help from this terrible epidemic plaguing our state and country.

“CommQuest has a focused commitment to provide ease of access and continuity of care to those who are in crisis and struggling with addiction in our community,” said CommQuest Services President & CEO Keith Hochadel. “This program will allow CommQuest to treat clients, many of whom will experience their first encounter with medical and clinical assistance during a drug induced emergency, with immediate recovery services,” and the new facility wouldn’t have been possible if not for the hard work and diligence of former CommQuest Marketing Director Mike Garcar, “ he added.

CommQuest Services and Aultman Hospital will be joining forces to open a withdrawal management unit within Aultman Hospital. Under this partnership agreement, CommQuest Services will operate a withdrawal management unit, focusing on addiction services, which will serve individuals who are in crisis and in need of recovery treatment.
Relocating and expanding withdrawal management services will accomplish two goals: it will allow CommQuest the continued ability to offer 24/7 detox services, and it will do so with no waiting lists.
Currently, the organization operates detox units at CommQuest’s Regional Center for Detox and Recovery (ReCOR) at its Massillon Recovery Campus and the Alliance Detox & Recovery Unit located inside Aultman Alliance Community Hospital. These facilities offer considerable bed capacity to both Stark County and the region.

The new program will allow CommQuest and Aultman staff to collaborate and facilitate individual needs related to withdrawal management for those patients who may be treated in the Emergency Department or in the hospital. This is a critical component related to ease of access and continuity of care.

For many people struggling with addiction, their first contact with care is often due to an overdose. This location will provide immediate intake into detox upon release from medical treatment for a drug overdose directly at the hospital location. There will be no need to send patients elsewhere or to follow up with them at a later time for treatment.

CommQuest plans to serve more than 750 annually through this unit, which is Aultman’s second collaboration with CommQuest. The Alliance Detox and Recovery Unit at Aultman Alliance Community Hospital opened in 2017 and offers 24/7 admissions for medication-assisted recovery, detoxification, individual and group counseling and case management services.

“CommQuest has a focused commitment to provide ease of access and continuity of care to those who are in crisis and struggling with addiction in our community,” said CommQuest Services President & CEO Keith Hochadel. “This program will allow CommQuest to treat clients, many of whom will experience their first encounter with medical and clinical assistance during a drug induced emergency, with immediate recovery services,” he added.

“Providing quality care for addiction continues to be a key component of our role in the community as a leading health care provider,” said Chris Remark, CEO, Aultman Healthcare Delivery System. “Our partnership with CommQuest at Aultman Alliance Community Hospital has already proven to be successful in this regard. The addition of this unit at our Canton location will provide immediate and onsite follow-up care for addiction recovery services.”
Continuing treatment for an addiction can includes residential treatment, Medication Assisted Recovery (MAR) or outpatient counseling. For mental illness, continuing treatment can consist of outpatient psychiatry, counseling and case management services.
