This banner is real. Hanging on a school bus in Montana right now.

$31.75/hour to drive the bus.

Flight paramedics — critical care, in the air, no backup, no second opinion — start lower than that in a lot of programs.

And somehow EMS agencies are still posting 'we desperately need staff' while applicants can't get a callback for weeks. You can't claim a shortage and ghost the people trying to fill it.

Not a knock on bus drivers. They deserve every dollar. But somebody explain why driving a route pays more than keeping someone alive at 1,500 feet — and why the 'we need people' agencies treat hiring like it's optional.

Meanwhile, your last shift probably included medical calls, inspections, lift assists, reports, training, public education, and approximately 47 things that had absolutely nothing to do with fire.

EMS is one of the few careers where you can save someone's life at 3 PM and stress about your electric bill at 6 PM.

We're trusted with life-or-death decisions, but a lot of us are still relying on overtime to stay afloat.

Explain that.

Are you financially comfortable, or is overtime part of the budget?

Everyone else gets pancakes and a card. You get a radio that doesn't care what day it is.

You missed the recital. You missed bedtime.
You missed the "watch me!" that only happens once.

That doesn't make you a bad dad. It makes you the one who shows up for everyone else's worst day so you can come home and still be theirs.

Nobody's clapping for you today. So I will.

Happy Father's Day to the dads who don't get one off.

Every new hire becomes the target. Every mistake gets magnified, every senior person suddenly has deja vu about their own first six months. Ask why...and you get a shrug: "don't worry, they'll move on to the next one."

That's not mentorship. That's a system that needs a person as their emotional punching bag and rotates the role. Call it what it is.

If your leadership collects complaints in secret and saves them for an audience — that's not feedback. That's cowardice with a title.

Real leaders pull you aside. They tell you to your face, before it's a performance. A boss who waits for a room full of witnesses isn't trying to coach you. They're trying to break you where everyone can watch.

Tag that boss. Send them this. Let them sit with it for once instead of you.

Somebody has to say it: humiliating your crew in public isn't leadership — it's the loudest confession of weak leadership there is.

Drop a 🚩 if you've sat in that meeting and felt the room go quiet around you. Tag someone who needs to see this. 👇🏼

I've sat across from providers who were done long before they said it out loud.

You could see it. But the culture made sure nobody asked.

We don't have a burnout problem. We have a silence problem.

Every medic with ADHD knows this feeling — you can't remember why you walked into a room but you can recall a med dose from a call 6 years ago like it's muscle memory. Shoutout to every first responder brain wired like a filing cabinet that got thrown down the stairs. 😂
