The longer I homeschool, the more I realize childhood itself is educational.
Watching ants for an hour isn’t wasted time.
Baking bread isn’t taking time away from learning.
Building a fort, planting a garden, wandering through the woods, asking 37 questions about one bug, helping make dinner, talking with adults, getting lost in a book...
That counts.
We’ve been taught to recognize learning only when it comes with a worksheet, assignment, grade, or test attached to it.
But children were learning long before any of those things existed.
Homeschooling gives us the freedom to stop rushing every curiosity because we have to get to the next lesson.
Follow the rabbit trail.
Bake the bread.
Watch the ants.
Read one more chapter.
Go outside.
Our kids have their entire lives to be adults. They only get one childhood.
