Team Nosferatour was out one late evening, wandering around the kind of places most people would cross the street to avoid, when out of the shadows, a quick and jittery figure darted from dumpster to dumpster. To our surprise, it was Twitchy the Ratt. He froze when he spotted us, his body twitching, as if deciding whether to run or chat. Lucky for us, his curiosity won out. Jodi and I got the chance to ask him a few questions and now we would like to share his answers with you.

Nosferatour: What is your favorite breakfast food before a night of debauchery?
Twitchy: Finger foods with shiny rings on them with NO CHEESE!

Nosferatour: Before grabbing someone, do you ever rehearse what you are going to say?
Twitchy: I only grab shinies not people, too many diseases on people and I haven’t carried the plague in ages

Nosferatour: Do you sing to yourself? To your victims? What song do you sing if you do?
Twitchy: All I ever hear is screaming, either from the voices or shiny holders aka humans

Nosferatour: On an average day, how many pigeons do you think you could reasonably carry?
Twitchy: Does anyone else smell bird p**p?

Nosferatour: If you could only have one song on repeat while you are working, what is the song’s name?
Twitchy: You’re F**ked by Ylvis, cause always remember on scale from 1-10 my friend You’re (please return to title of the song)

Nosferatour: Do you consider a hot dog in a bun a sandwich?
Twitchy: Why would I eat a dog, dogs are more likely to eat me, and I didn’t know witches went to the beach or “sandwich” if you will

Nosferatour: Do you ever monologue to the people you have tied up?
Twitchy: Why have all the foreplay I just want the shinies and all they ever do is just scream about cheese so no talking for you haha

Nosferatour: What line will you never cross?
Twitchy: The one drawn on the ground

Nosferatour: How long do you stalk people before you grab them?
Twitchy: Father Time and I don’t mix so I just cut out the middle man and grab the shinies when I want them

Nosferatour: Do you consider yourself normal and everyone else is crazy, or just the opposite?
Twitchy: What is this normal you speak of…

Nosferatour: What scares you the most?
Twitchy: People… cats… snakes…

Nosferatour: Do you have any words of wisdom, or anything you want people to know about you?
Twitchy: Please bring lots of shinnies for me to take from you cause Santa stopped reading my letters and I can’t write so I need more for my collection and I’ll be taking them whether you like it or not haha

Total Terror Haunted Attraction, located in Powhatan, VA, is a small haunt with a big personality. Calling it a small haunt might be better described as a "local haunt," and I mean that in every sense. The owners, Chip and Wendy, are down-to-earth and treat their staff and actors like family rather than employees. Chip creates most of the haunt's inventory, from props to masks, adding a personal touch that can’t be replicated by mass-produced items. Wendy’s warm and inviting attention to every customer makes you feel welcome... that is, until the shrill screams of patrons who came before you pierce the air, only to be drowned out by the roar of a chainsaw.
Team Nosferator attended their annual “Halfway to Halloween” event, which is held alongside the Powhatan County Fair. They call it "The Carnival of Terror." This is a shortened version of the haunt, omitting the corn maze.
Finding the entrance was easy, especially with the demented clowns “calming” the nervous customers waiting to buy tickets. After the ticket booth, we made our way to the entrance, where we were met by a large clown statue — one that made you wonder whether to laugh or keep your distance. The staff member went over a few rules before letting us in, ensuring there was plenty of space between groups to prevent bunching up.
Once inside, we navigated through twisting corridors that led to various rooms filled with eerie decor, setting the stage for, well… clowns. There were a lot of clowns, they appeared from everywhere, down low, up high, behind objects, and from places you least expected. Every new area brought a jump scare, a random scream, or a loud bang. The actors’ enthusiasm and energy kept us on our toes and alert. Each actor nailed their scene with precision, keeping up their creepy banter until we entered the next area full of “special” surprises. Before it was all over, we had to make a dash for safety, chased by a clown wielding, you guessed it, a chainsaw.
When we exited, we were just like everyone else, with smiles on our faces and laughing. My only question is: what do you call a group of clowns? A flock? A gaggle? A murder? The only thing I know for certain is that they all gather at Total Terror.
