In just the second summer of existence The Rogue Rapids swim team brought home some impressive finishes from the State long course championships and two top junior championships. Coach Jeremy Gregory, swimmers Brienne Chamberland and Eleanor Geraghty, and Board member Laurel Geraghty checked in Friday on Tee It Up Southern Oregon with Joe Brett to highlight Brienne and 5 other State Champions as well as recap the Futures and Junior Nationals meets that Eleanor qualified for and competed in. The Rapids roster is over 100 strong and new swimmers are welcome to join the fun. Congrats to the Rapids on a great summer!

Travel Medford and the Southern Oregon Sports Commission are working to grow sports tourism in our region. Director of Sports Development Darren Van Lehn was in studio today on Tee It Up Southern Oregon in the first a new series of quarterly updates from the Commission. "Last 90, Next 90" looks at events completed, events to come, and the work to create new facilities and opportunities for Your Sportground, where the West Coast comes to play!

Congratulations to Tracey Snyder and Laura Kraft at The Rogue Valley Country Club on new positions with the club. Tracey is now the Director of Golf Operations and Laura steps up to become the new Head Golf Professional. They joined us Friday on Tee It Up Southern Oregon to talk about the new duties and to let us know there are still some openings in the Southern Oregon Golf Championship later this month.

The Japanese All Star Football team is spending a final day in Ashland Saturday and will travel home Sunday with a 5th straight Pacific Rim Bowl victory. It was a pleasure to meet four members of the Japanese team with their host family the Seversons Friday on Tee It Up Southern Oregon with Joe Brett.
With RB Rio Kiyota helping us translate we talked with Rio, WR Yujin Aburatani, QB Kai Takahashi, and DB Rui Matsumoto. We learned American football has become a generational sport in Japan. Three of our visitors had fathers who played. Also learned the Jet Boat ride was a big hit! And on the field Friday night saw a 7 touchdown performance that underscored the steady growth in talent and depth of the Japanese all star teams since the series began in 1988.

The Rogue Rapids are bringing home the ribbons! Congrats 8U.

STATE CHAMPIONS!

This incredible Rogue Rapids relay team won the 8&U girls 200 meter medley relay at the Oregon State Championship in 3:24.08, more than 6 seconds ahead of the second place team.

That is some mighty fast swimming, Berkli, Andi, Fern, and Stassia!

This same sweet relay squad also took second place in the 8&U 200m freestyle relay.

Could the Rapids’ future be any brighter?

Medford golfer caught up with us on Tee It Up Southern Oregon last week before the ISCO Championship as part of our "Wu Watch" series brought to you by the Rogue Valley Country Club. Dylan didn't play in the US Open but a former roommate did and played well. JJ Spaun won the Championship in dramatic comeback fashion. Dylan shares his thoughts on JJ, some practice time with his new swing coach, and catching a Cubs game with his wife Margaret who came from a Chicago baseball family.
