YMCA locations reopened

Dear YMCA Members & Program Participants,

We want to reassure you that the situation prompting today's precautionary lockdown has been fully resolved. Law enforcement has confirmed there is no danger to any of our YMCA locations, and we have received the all clear to return to normal operations.

Through swift action and close coordination with authorities, we were able to identify the source of the concern and confirm that there was never a true threat to our association.
Everyone at our facilities remains safe. We are incredibly thankful for the quick, professional response of our YMCA team and for the strong support and presence of our local law enforcement partners.

All YMCA operations will return to normal tomorrow, Saturday, June 14.

Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and for being part of our YMCA family.

UPDATE:
We have been given guidance by local law enforcement, Shelby County Sheriff's Office, and the Office of Homeland Security to lift the lockdown for our locations, as they have advised that this is an "unverified threat" against the organization.
Out of an abundance of caution, we will continue to operate under precautionary safety measures.

__________________________
URGENT NOTICE: We are currently in a precautionary lockdown at all YMCA centers, summer camp locations, and program sites due to an unverified threat that came into our call center. The location was not identified, so out of an abundance of caution, and in accordance with our safety protocols, we are implementing these measures across the entire organization.
Everyone at our locations is safe, and we are actively working with all local law enforcement agencies. We will provide further updates as soon as we have more information.

Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security and Tennessee Highway Patrol Warn of “Outstanding Traffic Ticket” Scam

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 5, 2025) – The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security (TDOSHS) and the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) are warning Tennesseans about a new scam involving text messages that say they come from the Tennessee Department of Vehicles (DMV).

The scam messages claim the recipient has outstanding traffic ticket fines and threatens that their vehicle registration and driving privileges will be suspended if payment is not made. Some messages include a link directing users to a fake website designed to look like the official TDOSHS site. These messages are not from the TDOSHS or the THP. They are fake messages trying to scam Tennesseans.

This new outstanding traffic ticket scam is similar to the recent unpaid toll scam and other messages pretending to be from trusted sources that have been making the rounds across the country.

The TDOSHS urges Tennesseans to take these steps to protect themselves:

- Know that the TDOSHS does not send text messages about overdue traffic fines, fees, payments, or license suspensions.

- Do not click on any links or respond to unexpected texts. Scammers want you to react quickly.

- Always use a verified phone number or website. Do not use the contact information in a suspicious message.

- Check the end of a suspicious email. Emails from Tennessee State Government end in “.gov.” Messages from Gmail, Hotmail, iCloud, or other providers are not official.

- Report and delete scam text messages. Use your phone’s “report junk” option to report the message, block the number and then delete it. You can also report scams and suspicious communications to the Federal Trade Commission.

If you are a victim of this scam, report your interaction to www.ic3.gov/.

For more information about common scams and how to protect yourself, visit the Tennessee Office of the Attorney General’s Division of Consumer Affairs at www.tn.gov/consumer.

🌳 MLGW has already trimmed 177 miles of trees in Germantown as part of its massive effort to improve service reliability across Shelby County.

Altogether, crews have cleared nearly 1,500 miles of utility right-of-way — four months ahead of schedule. With trees causing around 40% of outages, this work is key to keeping the power on, especially during spring storms.
