The women of the Bluff City are writing the pages of our collective culinary history every day. Some boost our confidence when we’re entertaining in our own homes, while others curate atmospheres fit to taste the amazing creations coming from their kitchens.

In honor of Women’s History Month in March, The Commercial Appeal is highlighting the work of 25 women who give us something to talk about and keep us well fed.

These women of Memphis’ culinary culture represent the dainty and the feminine, the bold and the courageous, the nurturing and the comforting.

We asked each woman to share with us the best piece of business advice another woman had ever given them. Some of the advice is recent and some has been with the ladies so long that they can no longer remember who exactly spoke the sage words.
