Let us take a moment to remember our fallen who are being honored this weekend at the International Association of Fire Fighters Memorial Service in Colorado Springs. It’s that time of year when your firefighters are asking for your help! Look for us at the following locations :
-Friday September 5 at Walmart on West Stone Drive from 10am until 2 pm
-Friday night September 5 at The Dobyns-Bennett football game (the DB Fire program students will be collecting)
-The Kingsport Farmers Market Saturday September 6 from 7 am until noon
Fire fighters have collected critical funds in the community since 1954 – one dollar at a time – as part of the Fill the Boot program for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The Kingsport Fire Department /Kingsport Firefighters Association Local 2270 will continue this tradition as its members kick off the annual program raising funds to support groundbreaking research for promising treatments and therapies and provide families with the highest quality care from the best doctors and medical teams in the county.

In the face of unimaginable tragedy, 343 firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, and 37 Port Authority police officers gave everything for people they didn’t even know. They climbed those stairs knowing they might not come back. They put service before self, courage before fear, and love for others before their own lives.

Today, we remember their sacrifice. We honor their families. And we carry their legacy forward every time we put on this uniform. Many of our members across Tennessee are climbing in their honor — step for step, story for story, keeping their memory alive.

For the Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters, this day is more than history — it’s a reminder of why we serve, why we train, and why we stand shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and sisters across this nation.

Because heroes live forever when we refuse to forget them.

Yesterday, members of the Tennessee Professional Firefighters Association from all across the state proudly participated in the Nashville 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, honoring the 343 fallen firefighters who gave their lives on September 11, 2001.

Over the next few days, other locals across Tennessee will be climbing in their own communities, standing shoulder to shoulder to ensure we never forget their sacrifice.

We climb so their memory lives on. We climb because they can’t. 🇺🇸🔥

This Labor Day, we pause to honor hard work and those who give it their all every day.

For Tennessee’s professional firefighters, work isn’t just a job — it’s a calling. It means long nights, missed holidays, and standing shoulder to shoulder when our neighbors need us most.

Labor Day reminds us of the value of that work, and of the progress generations before us made to ensure safer conditions and fair treatment for all working families. We’re proud to carry on that tradition of looking out for each other — both in the firehouse and in our communities.

From our fire family to yours, we wish everyone a safe, meaningful, and well-earned Labor Day.

Congratulations, Station 4! 🚒🔥

Station 4 was officially presented a certificate from the International Association of Fire Fighters for being a 100% IAFF member station! Every firefighter, EMT,and Medic across A, B, and C shifts at Station 4 are proud members of Local 4238.

Here in Tennessee, a right-to-work state, no firefighter is required to join the union in order to work. Yet, the men and women of Station 4—and 119 of our approximately 150 Employees across Wilson County EMA—have chosen to stand united as union members. That choice shows the strength of our brotherhood and sisterhood, and the commitment to protecting each other, our profession, and the citizens we serve.

“Station 4 shows what it means to be all in. When every firefighter across every shift chooses union membership, it proves the value of standing together. I couldn’t be more proud of their commitment and I look forward to more stations achieving this certificate.”
— Colton Young, President, Local 4238

Stronger together. Stronger for Wilson County. 💪
