Some wounds are visible. Others hide behind a beautiful smile.
At five years old, I was purposely burned with a skillet of hot grease. No one sat that little girl down and explained why. So I learned how to look okay while carrying pain I didnât yet have the words to process.
For years, it remained an open wound in my life.
Then I chose forgivenessânot because what happened was acceptable and not to free the people who hurt me. I forgave so that I could be free.
Today, it is no longer a wound. It is a scarâand that scar has become a testimony.
I transformed it into art: three roses and a butterfly, titled Leading to Something New. Because sometimes the place that feels like an ending is really the cocoon where your transformation begins.
You are not what happened to you.
You are not the pain you were forced to carry.
And you are not too wounded to become something beautiful.
This is the kind of healing we talk about in Over â40â Stuck in a Fat Body: How to Create Your Beautiful Mind, Body & Soul.
