Black women are taking over Love Island USA and we’re here for it.

erica chidi called it at ESSENCE Festival of Culture last week and the villa delivered.

For the first time in the show’s history, every couple in the finale is anchored by women of color. The Core Four didn’t just make it to the end. They ran the season.

Women weren’t required in U.S. clinical research until 1993. Not the ‘60s. 1993.

Most of modern medicine got built without us in the room, and for Black women, the record is thinner still.
Every dosage, every “normal” range, every side effect they call rare: measured mostly on men, or on bodies that weren’t ours.

So we hosted UNFILED with K’ept Health at Unbothered & Well, our live experience at ESSENCE Festival of Culture . Their pop-up explored what happens when women’s health goes undocumented and what could change if we finally had the data on our bodies that we deserve.

Yesterday, Dr. Kemi Doll MD | GYN ONC, SCIENTIST, COACH linked up with erica chidi at Unbothered & Well: the new live experience from Unbothered at ESSENCE Festival of Culture, for a Talking Circle on womb health and advocating for ourselves as Black women when it comes to fibroids, heavy periods, endometriosis, and cancer.

Talking Circles are a communal space where collective wisdom exists without barriers or hierarchy. It’s a space to learn, share, and lean on each other. We asked a few women from the circle what they’re taking home.

We want to bring Talking Circles to your city. Now that we’ve wrapped NOLA — where should we go next?
