Normally at this time of the month I’d recommend five albums that I’ve heard over the past month that you should listen to. However, this month I’m only doing one.

Last year, a mysterious music group named Adjy started a project called The Idyll Opus. This is the first part of the project.

If you like the long-haul storytelling albums from artists such as “The World Is A Beautiful Place, & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die” and “Anathallo”, this is the album for you. It’ll take you on a real adventure ranging from indie folk to emo to ambient.

This is a terrific album of progressive folk that tells the story of two people (June & July) meeting over a summer and then going through life together.

The Idyll Opus is absolutely incredible. It’s one of the best things I have ever heard. On your first listen you will get into the story and jolly tunes but on repeat listen you will start to pickup on the deeper themes and motifs presented throughout the whopping 1hr40 duration of the album.

There is also an accompanying lyric book that can be found here: https://www.theidyllopus.com/text
This book will help get your head around the themes and characters throughout the album as well as make your brain hurt with all the hidden messages and codes throughout the album.

I seriously wouldn’t sleep on this album and the artist. I hope part 2 is coming later this year as the lyric book hints at September 23rd (The Southward Equinox).

Oh, and they seemingly have absolutely no online presence just to add to the confusion of this insane project.

Seriously! Listen to this magical album.
