Grout yes/no + color help.
Ok so this whale fin (picture 1) was the first mosaic I've ever made - obviously, I had a lot to learn during the process. I was too scared to grout the mosaic as I thought the details and strong blue fin-colors would be lost if I did - I was just not convinced to grout it😅 and somehow to just leave it as it is wasn't an option for people I talked to. I added picture 2 as a close up to show the gaps better.

Past forward a year and I'm doing my second ever mosaic (picture 3) - it's gonna be a present. I was SO sure to grout it this time... and now I'm not sure anymore. I just feel like the marble shines more through like this. What do you guys say? And if grouting, what color would you use?

Just finished my first project! Can I seal the grout somehow?
Clearly a lot of room for improvement, but for a first try I'm quite pleased. I want to use this table for food and drinks, but I would hate to see the grout get stained if something (like tomato sauce for example) spills. Can I prevent this with a sealant?

Rolling tray I made for a friend. She gave me free rein to create whatever Bowie themed design I wanted and this is what I came up with. (Awkward extra photo in natural light to better show the shiny parts!)

Latest mosaic.
Made for a local show and it won in the 2D category 😃 After I grouted, I glued additional pieces on top that were tumbled in a rock tumbler to soften the edges. Very fun piece to work on!

A family project! My dad told me he was 4 when they made these. My grandfather was an artist and hand drew these on the block, and then my dad and his three siblings helped him create the finished image and grout them. I think they’re so lovely.

First mosaic complete.
We just built a new bar in the backyard and I really wanted a garden sink (drains into a watering can). Decided to build the sink base with some old leftover cinderblocks, and then realized I had to do something to make the concrete block wall look somewhat interesting. So, I found some old leftover tiles we had and started creating a mosaic.
Thank you to everyone who has posted in this community and gave me lots of inspiration (and some needed confidence/hopefulness).
I was nervous about choosing the right grout color and ended up choosing a natural grey, which I love! This was so much fun, I’m ready for the next project! have a feeling my yard is going to have lots of new mosaics added :)
