DoorDash really looked at drivers and said, "How about a chance at $500?" πŸ˜πŸ’€ The catch? You only need to complete **30 deliveries by June 30.** On paper that sounds easy enough, but the word that caught my attention was **"sweepstakes."** πŸ˜… So we're not talking about a guaranteed $500 bonus. We're talking about doing the deliveries and then hoping your name gets picked out of the giant digital hat. Meanwhile, drivers are over here calculating how many miles, gas stops, apartment stairs, and cases of water those 30 deliveries might involve. πŸš—πŸ›’

Don't get me wrong, $500 would be nice. But "you could win $500" definitely hits a little different than "here's $500 for completing 30 deliveries." πŸ˜‚

Would 30 deliveries be worth it for a chance at $500? Do you prefer guaranteed bonuses or sweepstakes promotions? And how many drivers do you think saw this and immediately started reading the fine print? πŸ€”πŸ’°πŸš—

Customers see a driver decline an order and think we're just being difficult, but they don't always see what's happening on our side of the app. πŸ˜…πŸš— Sometimes two orders can look almost identical to the customerβ€”same restaurant, same delivery time, same foodβ€”but the pay can be completely different. One offer makes sense, the other barely covers the gas to get there. πŸ’€

In this case, both orders would probably be delivered pretty quickly and neither looks especially difficult. The difference is that one respects the driver's time a whole lot more than the other. That's where the frustration comes from. Drivers aren't just looking at the drop-off locationβ€”we're looking at mileage, payout, traffic, wait times, and whether the trip is actually worth taking. 😭

Do customers really understand what drivers see before accepting an order? Would you take a lower-paying order if a better one was likely to come in a minute later? And if you've ever delivered, what's the biggest thing customers don't realize about how these offers work? πŸ€”πŸš—πŸ’°

I’ve seen a lot of things while ordering food, but this was a first. πŸ˜πŸ” My dasher actually messaged me asking for an additional tip after accepting the order. Not gonna lie, I just stared at my phone for a minute trying to figure out if I was reading it correctly. πŸ˜… I didn't even respond because at that point my main concern became making sure my food arrived in one piece and hadn't suddenly become the star of a personal grudge match. 🫠

Look, I understand delivery drivers deal with some terrible orders and low payouts. I respect the hustle. But once a driver accepts an order, messaging the customer asking for more money feels... awkward? Especially when the customer is now stuck wondering if saying "no" is going to affect their delivery experience. 😬

Has anyone else ever had a driver ask for an extra tip before delivery? Would you respond or just ignore the message like I did? And if you were the driver, do you think it's appropriate to ask customers for additional tips after accepting the order? πŸ€”πŸŸπŸš—

Nothing makes me laugh harder than a "deal" that somehow costs almost the same as not buying the deal at all. 😭πŸ₯™ I was scrolling through a restaurant menu and saw a big **BOGO special: 2 falafel pitas for $21.99.** Sounds great, right? Then I looked two items down and saw the exact same falafel pita being sold individually for **$11.99 each.** πŸ’€ So if I just ordered two singles, I'd pay about a dollar more than the "special." That's not exactly the kind of savings that gets people sprinting to checkout. πŸ˜… At that point it feels less like a promotion and more like a math test to see who's paying attention.

Am I the only one who always checks the regular menu before trusting a BOGO deal? Have you ever found a "special" that wasn't really a deal at all? And would you consider saving about a dollar enough to call something a true BOGO promotion? πŸ€”πŸ₯™πŸ’Έ

This is exactly why I use the decline button without feeling guilty about it. πŸ˜πŸš— The first offer DoorDash sent me was so bad I actually laughed when it popped up on my screen. Low pay, questionable mileage, and absolutely not worth the time. So I declined it and moved on. Then literally about a minute later, a second offer came through that was significantly better and one I was happy to accept. πŸ˜…

That's why I've never bought into the idea that you have to accept every order to make money. Sometimes all you're doing is teaching the app you'll take terrible offers. I'd rather wait an extra minute for something that actually makes sense than spend 30 minutes losing money. πŸ’€ And before anyone asks, no, I'm not Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, or whatever title they're handing out this week. My acceptance rate isn't paying my billsβ€”the orders are.

Have you ever declined a terrible offer only to get a much better one right after? Do you think acceptance rate actually matters, or is it mostly a gimmick? What's the worst order you've ever been offered? πŸ€”πŸš—πŸ’°

I was scrolling along minding my business when I saw a name that made me stop immediately. πŸ˜πŸ’€ Out of all the names in the world, somebody really looked at a newborn baby and said, **"Yep... Pregnant."** That's the one. No second thoughts. No family meeting. No last-minute change of heart. Just full commitment. πŸ˜‚

Now I'm not here to judge anybody's naming choices, but some names make you do a double take and wonder how the conversation leading up to it went. Like was everyone in the room on board? Did nobody raise a hand and suggest literally anything else? πŸ˜…

What's the wildest name you've ever seen someone give their child? Am I the only one who had to read this twice to make sure it was real? And where do you think this ranks on the list of most unusual names you've ever heard? πŸ€”πŸ˜‚πŸ’€

Please don't come back to my house... 😭πŸšͺ As a dasher myself, I thought I'd seen just about everything, but this was a first. I ordered a few cleaning supplies I needed after the kids went to bed (plus a little treat for myself πŸ˜…) while I was making dinner. The order arrived right before I finished plating the food, so I opened the door expecting my items and immediately realized it was someone else's order entirely. πŸ’€ Naturally, I messaged the driver to let them know there had been a mix-up and figured they'd come back with the correct order. Well... they did come back. Just not for the reason I expected. 🫠 Instead of bringing my order, they showed up to retrieve the other customer's order they had accidentally left at my house. At that point I was just standing there wondering how we somehow managed to move backward in the delivery process.

As a customer, would you be frustrated or just laugh it off? Have you ever had a delivery go this sideways before? And what's the most ridiculous delivery mistake you've ever experienced? πŸ€”πŸš—πŸ“¦

Is anyone else having issues adding a new payment card to DoorDash right now? πŸ˜©πŸ’³ I've checked everything I can think of. I'm connected to the internet, my bank has confirmed there's nothing wrong with the card, and even DoorDash support hasn't been able to give me a clear answer.

At this point I'm stuck wondering if it's a problem with the app, a system outage, or if DoorDash just decided it doesn't like my card for some mysterious reason. πŸ˜πŸ’€ I've tried the usual troubleshooting steps, but no luck so far.

Before I spend another hour going in circles with support, I figured I'd ask here and see if anyone else has run into the same issue recently.

Has anyone successfully added a new card in the last few days? πŸ€” If you had this problem before, what ended up fixing it? πŸ’³ And is this a DoorDash issue or am I just the unlucky one today? πŸ˜…

People always say you have to cherry-pick every order to make decent money, but my experience has been completely different. πŸ˜…πŸš—πŸ’° I'm sitting at a **95% acceptance rate**, work about **6 hours a day** (10:30–2 for lunch and 4–7 for dinner), and the results have been hard to argue with.

The biggest thing for me is that I hate sitting in a parking lot for 45 minutes declining order after order while waiting for the mythical unicorn payout. πŸ˜πŸ’€ I'd rather stay moving, keep the wheels turning, and stack consistent earnings throughout the day. Sure, there are orders I wouldn't take, but in California with Prop 22, anything over **$5** and around **$1 per mile** is usually good enough for me.

A lot of my "wasted time" is just being paused between apps, not sitting around hoping for that one magical $40 order. At the end of the week, with both Prop 22 adjustments hitting, it adds up fast. πŸ”₯

Everyone has their own strategy, and I'm not saying this is the only way to do it. But for me, consistency beats chasing unicorns every single day. πŸ€‘

What's your acceptance rate right now? πŸ€” Are you a cherry-picker or do you stay busy taking most offers? πŸš— And what's the best week you've ever had doing DoorDash, Uber Eats, or both combined? πŸ’°πŸ”₯πŸ‘‡

I know the comments are coming... πŸ˜‚πŸ’€

"You're doing it wrong."
"Acceptance rate is too high."
"You could make way more cherry-picking."

And honestly? Maybe you're right. πŸ˜πŸš—πŸ’°

But after trying different strategies, I've found I'd rather stay busy than spend an hour sitting in a parking lot declining orders and hoping a unicorn pops up. My goal isn't necessarily to squeeze every last dollar out of every shiftβ€”it's to keep moving, keep earning, and keep the stress level low.

Could I do better? Probably. In fact, I'm already arguing with myself about it. 🀣 But at the end of the day, if the bills are getting paid and I'm hitting my goals, it's hard to complain too much.

Every market is different, every driver is different, and what works for one person might be terrible for someone else. That's why I always find these discussions interesting.

What's your acceptance rate right now? πŸ€” Have you made more money cherry-picking or staying busy? πŸ’° And what's the longest you've ever sat waiting for that "perfect" order to come through? πŸ˜‚πŸš—
