To whoever said “just get the pilot bushing out, it’s easy”… I would like a word.

Some things went VERY wrong getting this thing out, and now I’m staring at the crank wondering how bad the damage actually is.

This was supposed to be a simple removal.
A quick job.
One of those “should only take a few minutes” situations.

And now here we are.

Gouges, chunks, metal shavings, and me questioning every life choice that led to this exact moment.

I’m not asking if it looks pretty. I know it doesn’t. I’m asking if this is still salvageable or if I just turned a basic clutch job into a full-blown mechanical crime scene.

Because at this point, I’ve already filed an emotional police report against myself.

To whoever said “that dragging noise is probably nothing”… absolutely not.

I heard something scraping under my 2018 Honda Pilot, looked underneath, and found THIS hanging down under the exhaust.

I’m about 50 miles from home, and now I’m trying to figure out if I can safely pull it off and limp it to a shop without turning this into a roadside disaster.

From the looks of it, it appears to be an exhaust heat shield that rusted loose and started dragging. Not exactly comforting when you’re nowhere near home.

This isn’t a “just ignore it” situation.
This isn’t normal road noise.
This is metal hanging under the vehicle right next to the exhaust system.

So yes, I’m stopping.
Yes, I’m checking it.
And no, I’m not driving 50 miles with something dragging under the car like it’s supposed to be there.

I’d rather be cautious now than explain later why a loose heat shield became a bigger problem.

To whoever thought a simple tire rotation could be done without consequences… we need to talk.

I had my tires rotated at a dealership. Routine. Simple. Supposedly safe.

Two days later, I’m hearing unusual “thunks” and feeling vibrations. Highway drive? Wheel almost falls off. Small-town mechanic confirms it. Pictures taken. Damage documented. Costly replacement.

Now I’m left wondering: is the dealership even going to care? Will they admit negligence, or blame potholes and tread differences?

Let me be very clear: this wasn’t wear and tear. This wasn’t a random pothole. This was a professional service gone wrong.

If you rotated my tires and a wheel nearly fell off, the cost, the risk, and the stress are on you. I’ll be showing these photos, documenting everything, and making sure someone takes responsibility.

What does the P symbol mean/do? 🤔

I can’t seem to figure out what the symbol means or how I could operate the stalk to use it. Anybody know what it means and how to use it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
