I have some places to patch from where we took out baseboard heaters before I can put the baseboards in.

Hi everyone! šŸ‘‹šŸ¾ I wanted to share one of the first budget-friendly renovation projects I tackled after moving into this house two years ago. This small half bathroom started out with a standard builder-grade look, but I wanted to give it some personality. I’m not a designer, but it was actually the first room where I experimented with black and shiplap for a feature wall to make a bold statement. It’s been holding up great and was very cost-efficient. Hopefully, this inspires someone looking to refresh a small space on a budget!

Archway or no?
I’m starting to decorate, but not sure what to do with this empty space. The main floor is one large rectangle, so this wall is shared between the living room and kitchen. What do you thing about adding an archway to slightly separate the two?
If not, what should I do here? Thanks!

A few of you may remember my post a few weeks back. My house is an old 1840s farmhouse and I am STRUGGLING with the kitchen. I’m keeping to an old English cottage look.. I originally wanted to do the trending sage green.. and after THREE tries at painting it different shades, I’ve decided it just doesn’t go.

I’ve purchased brick tiles for the back splash, and countertops will remain the same for now. The brick tiles are that classic redish brick look. The big question is what color will go with the brick tiles? I was thinking maybe a dusty dark blue, a friend suggested even black cabinets.. do I keep top cabinets white?

Help. Me. Please. šŸ˜‚

Looking for advice! We bought a beautiful house built in 1900 in the Deep South last year. When we purchased it, it had regular batting underneath it but it gets so humid here it was wet and falling when our inspector came to look at it and suggested we have the sellers take it all down, which we did. We also have begun repairing and refinishing the original floors of the house - but there’s nothing underneath them! (No subfloor). Now with the crazy winter storm happening right now and just the general cold of winter it is freezing and drafty in the house, coming from our floors most specifically. We have a very large crawl space with the plastic down on the bottom of it (not bare dirt) but I don’t think I could afford encapsulation like what has been suggested to me before. Crawlspace under the house is covered by lattice but nothing else. I know I can’t do spray foam because it seals it off which is bad for old houses. What should I do? What will not get moldy or humid under the house? I’ve seen rock wool suggested before but I still am uncertain on what to do.
Added note - I can’t do carpet or even really large area rugs due to dogs and children. Would love a solution that would still let me show off the refinished floors I just paid for!

Well, after getting a heating bill that was almost as much as our July/August cooling bill, I decided to join . Hopefully this keeps the heater from running alllllllllll the time now that the drafts can’t blow directly over the thermostat. Don’t mind Doorgate2025:The never ending process of stripping.
