In A State Of Bliss | Bike Touring Washington's Gifford Pinchot National Forest | S5 \ E7.
Total change of terrain and circumstances coming up. This episode is different than the last as I ride deep into the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. It sits right in-between Mount Saint Helens and Mount Adams. There was hardly a vehicle around and people even less. It was also a climb fest with close to 3,000' of climbing. The forest was so lush and beutiful. Birds were chirping away the entire time. I was in total cycling nirvana. And to finish it up I rode right into a 100% empty campground where I parked my butt at the best spot I could find just close enough to the river so I could listen to it in my sleep. You are gonna love this one.

Staying The Course: The Chinook Pass and Mount Rainier Grind | Bike Touring The Cascades | S5 \ E6.
In this episode, I tackle one of the most iconic and grueling stretches of the Pacific Northwest: the legendary climb up Chinook Pass and the winding roads of Mount Rainier National Park. At an elevation of 5,430 feet, Chinook Pass isn't just a mountain, it's a right of passage for anyone cycling thru the Cascades Mountain Range. It took riding thru beautiful evergreen forests of Washington state all the way to the exposed switchbacks near the summit. It was a relentless 12 mile ride at 5% to 8% grade. The reward was unbelievable views of Mount Rainer, Lake Tipsoo, Naches Peak and all else my eyes were feasting on.

Phenomenal Cycling in Washington | Bicycle Touring The Sierra Cascades Bike Route | S5 \ E5.
Two totally different days of bike touring in Washington. The first day is of a nice climb over Blewett Pass from Peshastin to Ellensburg. It was nothing crazy but absolutely memorable. The views are spectacular and the downhill seemed eternal. At times peaceful and other times very busy with trucking traffic and such. The second day took me by total surprise. I went from Ellensburg to the city of Yakima via Canyon Road. This was nothing short of a prefect day of cycling along the Yakima River in the Yakima Canyon. Unreal beauty with a tailwind and very little climbing. One of the most chill days I have ever had on two wheels. Well, that is until I reached the outskirts of Yakima where there was plenty of chaotic traffic. I ended up on the sidewalk until crossing the Naches River and thrown into a nice bike path to finish the day. Two phenomenal days to add to this unbelievable tour of the Cascades.

Bicycle Touring The Sierra Cascades Bike Route | Lake Chelan - Sunnyslope - Blewett Pass | S5 \ E4.
This one is a dandy with plenty of downhill action on my way to the Wenatchee Mountain's Blewett Pass. It starts in Lake Chelan with a nice climb and drop into the Columbia River screaming thru a nice long tunnel at 40 miles per hour. It looks like a Star Wars scene, I promise. From there I cruised on down to Sunnyslope but not easily. The headwinds were ridiculous. I could barely get there. After a restful night in Sunnyslope I did the ride along US Route 2 passing thru the towns of Monitor, Cashmere and Dryden. Cashmere was the best of these towns with a great 9/11 memorial that close to brought me to tears. The apple culture along this part of the route was top notch. Once I arrived in Dryer I quickly made my way onto US Route 97 and towards Blewett Pass. I stopped just short of the big climb at this unexpectedly marvelous campground where I spent the night in my tent. Mt Rainer is only a couple of days ride away.

Dream Bike Ride Along The Columbia River | Bicycle Touring The Sierra Cascades Bike Route | S5 \ E3.
Forgive me in advance, in this episode I pronounced the city of Chelan in about four different ways. Not sure if people were messing with me but every time I asked I was given some "other" pronunciation. On to the subject at hand, this third installment of season 5 starts at the end of an epic ride up and over the North Cascades National Park's Washington Pass. Check out the prior episode if you haven't. I stayed that night in the town of Winthrop from were I shot down the next morning along the Twisp and later the Methow River all the way to its confluence in the town of Pateros at the Columbia River. This was a beautiful ride along these rivers thru small quaint towns and apple orchards. The next morning I took off from Pateros on an another Washingtonian epic ride along the iconic Columbia River to the town of Chelan. These days are memorable ones with beautiful scenery and fun easy riding.

Got My Butt Kicked Bike Touring North Cascades National Park | Marblemount to Mazama | S5 \ E2.
Not sure what I was thinking. I was fresh off the starting line and heading towards a 5,000’ climb to reach the North Cascades National Park’s Washington Pass. Being extremely busy with my guiding season before this tour I didn’t have enough time to train like I should have. I had a few extra pounds on me and my legs were not there yet with only three days of cycling only 50 flat mile days. Either way, here I went. Day 4, before the huge climb up to this Washington Pass, I had a short set up day with only 30 miles and close to 2,000’ of climbing to get my groove going. This day didn’t turn out like I expected, though. My crankset started getting loose on me towards the end of the day and created way more trouble for me than necessary. I’ll let you watch how that unfolded in the episode thanks to a road angel. So that sets up this episode of how I cruised thru the North Cascades National Park in two days, 100 miles, and 7,000’ of gain. It ended up being one of the most memorable National Parks I have visited. Clip on and get ready to watch some unbelievable scenery of jagged mountains, green water flowing rivers, conifers all over, and my silly face narrating as I go.

Sierra Cascades Bicycle Route | Season 5 Kick Off | Vancouver to North Cascades | S5 \ E1
It all starts with a three day push from Vancouver, Canada into the North Cascades. Right away, on the first day, I get myself into a mixed bag of roads, bridges, and trails to reach Birch Bay State Park where I camped my first night of many on this tour. Day two was all on roads riding thru several cities such as Ferndale, Bellingham, and Fairheaven as well as over the Chuckanut Mountains to reach Burlington where I stayed in a Motel 6. On day three I cruise out of the busy city environment and find each mile ahead with more and more natural beauty. The mountains all of the sudden are starting to envelop me as I work my way along the Skagit River on the Cascades Trail and the North Cascades Highway. Now Im all set up to see the North Cascades National Park in the coming days and climb up and over Washington Pass.

Crossing Utah: The Mighty 5 National Parks Adventure.
With the Rockies behind me, I set out to conquer Utah and its legendary Mighty 5 National Parks. The adventure kicks off with a brutal crossing of the Las Sal Mountains—headwinds, endless climbs, a dark freeway, and a miracle stealth camp to survive the night.
From there, Utah takes hold. I team up with friends Jason and Cooper to hike Arches, wander the vast overlooks of Canyonlands, and dive deeper into the Needles District. Northbound through Moab, Green River, and Hanksville, I push on through freezing nights, UFO-like desert landscapes, and the jaw-dropping beauty of Capitol Reef.
The road only gets wilder—icy camps at Dixie National Forest, a surreal ride across Scenic Byway 12, and finally, the mind-blowing spires of Bryce Canyon. The journey reaches its peak with a windswept ride into Zion National Park, completing my dream of seeing all five of Utah’s iconic parks in one unforgettable ride.
This is Utah like you’ve never seen it—raw, wild, and otherworldly.

From Georgia to the Pacific: 4,300 Miles Across America on Two Wheels - S4 E39.
After 4,300 miles, 17 states, and 4 months of riding, I’ve finally made it to California’s west coast. This fifth crossing of the United States began in Georgia, winding through the southern states—except for a detour back into the Rockies—and then chasing my dream ride: crossing the entire state of Utah to explore all its incredible national parks. Those days in Utah will stay with me forever.
The final stretch was all about Death Valley National Park and its Panamint Range before reaching the Pacific, closing the book on another unforgettable tour, but not the last—there are still so many routes calling my name. Stick around for more adventures on two wheels.

Crossing the Desert, Chasing the Coast | Cycling Across America | S4 E38.
After the most epic downhill of the trip and a peaceful night camping at Panamint Springs, I hit the road again—rolling west after more than four months crossing the U.S. on two wheels.

The Mojave throws me a surprise: a rare tailwind. I ride it straight into a 3,600-foot climb up to Trona, an industrial desert town that feels like another planet. From there, I cruise into Ridgecrest by day’s end—75 miles in the books and honestly, not a bad day.

The next morning tries to trip me up with a flat tire, but it works out. I adjust the plan and land at a one-of-a-kind campground halfway to where I thought I’d be. Turns out, that unexpected stop was just what I didn’t know I needed.

This episode is all about that stretch of road where the finish line starts to come into focus. Come along for the ride—and the reflections—as this cross-country journey starts to wind down.
