In this video, we explore the daily lives of nomadic families living in the mountains of northwestern Iran. These families face many challenges, such as protecting their sheep from wolves and bears and taking them to graze. The community works together, helping one another through these difficulties.

We meet two elderly women dressed in traditional clothing who demonstrate the hard work required in this lifestyle. They show us how to butcher a rooster, prepare broth, and make delicious local dishes using natural butter and yellow oil from milk. They also bake bread outdoors, sharing the process in the fresh mountain air.

During the summer, they comb wool with a special comb and spin traditional threads with an old machine. After their work is done, they gather in a tent, set up a meal for their guests, and enjoy a meal together. It's a warm and intimate experience that captures the essence of life in a cozy nomadic tent.

Life in Kandovan: Exploring Iran's Ancient Rocky Village
Kandavan village is a famous and unique attraction in East Azarbaijan, Iran. It's the only inhabited rocky village in the world. There are two other similar stone villages: one in Cappadocia, Turkey, and another in Dakota, USA, but both are uninhabited.

Kandavan has a history of 7,000 years and is located in the city of Skoi, near Tabriz. The houses here are built right into the mountain, resembling beehives, and are entirely formed by natural volcanic activity from the Sahand mountains, without any human construction.

Visitors are often amazed by the traditional beehive-like homes, the friendly local people, and the serene atmosphere. The village is also known for its clear mineral water and natural honey, which is a popular souvenir.

The homes, also called "Karan," are typically two to four stories high. The ground floor is used as a stable, the first floor for living, the second floor for guests, and the third floor for storage. The 600 residents of Kandavan still live in these stone houses, making it a rare example of rock architecture that is still in use today.
