Please donate to our Sickle Cell Awareness Month fundraiser this September. Every dollar will go directly to people living with sickle cell disease. The link is in bio.
We did this last year and were able to do a little good for a lot of people by providing gift cards, over-the-counter medicines, heating pads, and other items that can make life during a sickle cell crisis a little easier.
The two realities I’m sharing show the reality of living with this disease. This summer, I wanted to be outside enjoying myself with a drink in my hand. I’ve been able to do that maybe four times. The rest of the summer—including right now—I’ve been battling a severe sickle cell episode.
Five blood transfusions later, I’m hopefully on my way back to something close to okay.
Sickle cell still does not receive the attention, funding, or urgency it deserves, largely because it disproportionately affects Black and brown people. Until the rest of the world catches on, we’re going to keep doing whatever little bit we can to help sickle cell warriors feel seen, supported, and cared for.
Please donate if you’re able, and share this fundraiser even if you can’t. Stream Bravo We’re Black and keep riding with me for as long as I can. Love you guys!
