A Haitian woman narrowly escaped death after her husband allegedly tried to suffocate her with a pillow, then later pointed a gun at her head in Miami-Dade, investigators say.

The suspect, 66-year-old security guard Fael Francois, is accused of trying to kill his wife twice in the same day. According to authorities, the woman fought back and escaped the first attack, but Francois later confronted her with a firearm and allegedly told her, “Today, you are going to die.”

The shocking case is now raising serious concern about domestic violence within the Haitian community in South Florida.
