🔴POWER 96 BREAKOUT
Power 96.5 was the pioneering radio station in Florida to introduce the genres of Trip Hop
An electronic genre that combined House Riffs, electronic sounds, Breaks and Bass.
One of the most iconic records that contributed to this movement was “Jive 122,” a classic sample that gained widespread popularity among listeners in the 80s.
With the added bass, this record became one of the top productions in electronic music out of Miami Florida.
Trip Hop emerged as an offshoot of the British music scene in the early 1990s, incorporating elements of breakbeats, hip hop, electronic music, and alternative rock.
The genre’s distinctive sound was marked by its atmospheric textures, intricate beats, and often introspective lyrics. Power 96.5’s commitment to playing Trip Hop and Electronic music made it a trailblazer in the United States, particularly in Florida.
The influence of Power 96.5 on Miami’s music scene cannot be overstated. Its dedication to playing these genres helped establish them as popular forms of music within the region and beyond. The station’s programming provided a platform for both local and national artists to showcase their work, contributing to the growth and evolution of these musical styles.
