Nalip Miami Chapter NALIP (National Association of Latino Independent Producers) Miami. NALIP is a national organizatio The National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) is a national membership organization that addresses the professional needs of Latino/Latina independent producers.

NALIP is the first such effort aimed at Latino production in thirty years, and it is the first to last more than one year and to provide ongoing support for the Latino independent film and video makers. We stand as the premiere Latino media organization, addressing for twelve years the most underrepresented and the largest ethnic minority in the country.

Latino Lens Showcase. Submit Your Short Film for the 2016 Latino Lens Showcase
NALIP is conducting a search for the highest quality short films that represents a commitment to diversity and the Latino/a community. We are looking for individuals with creative, and fresh finished products that are ready to exhibit to the world what they have created and what they can offer.

The Films will be screened on October 30, as part of NALIP's second annual Latino Lens Showcase that aims to display a wide range of voices and narratives that are crafted by Latino content creators, in the hopes of advancing the exposure and accessibility of Latin-crafted cinema and art forms.

The short film must be less than 20 minutes long, feature Latino/a talent on or behind the camera in leading roles, and/or focus on issues that pertain to the Latino/a community. The film must also have been completed no earlier that the year 2015. In order to submit for consideration, please go to our website, and click on the link “Submit Your Work.” The link submitted must be password protected.

Please inform in the description box that you are submitting for the 2016 Latino Lens Showcase and provide the password. Please provide a brief explanation as to why you believe your project should be displayed at our showcase, and be a part of our two-day lineup.

Make sure to become a member! Those with paid memberships will have priority.

Marzo 21, 2016.- El Latin American Training Center-LATC anuncia el Concurso de Argumentos de Guión Latinoamérica-EEUU 2016, con el apoyo de la Escuela de Comunicación de la Universidad de Miami, el Miami-Dade College, el National Association of Latino Independent Producer-NALIP, el Miami-Dade County Office of Film and Entertainment, la Federación Iberoamericana de Productores Cinematográficos y Audiovisuales-FIPCA, el software de escritura de guión Final Draft, GrayRobinson, P.A. y el Festival Internacional de Cine de Miami. Centrado en temas fronterizos, el concurso tiene como objetivo fomentar coproducciones de largometrajes (ficción o documentales) entre Hispanoamérica (países de habla hispana) y Estados Unidos, promover rodajes de películas en dos o más países, así como ayudar a los nuevos guionistas en las industrias de cine y entretenimiento altamente competitivas de hoy.

El concurso está abierto a cineastas y guionistas, mayores de 18 años, con un título universitario en cualquier campo, cuya obra aún no ha sido producida. Exclusive: Three $15K Production Grants Announced Through
The NALIP WORLD Channel American Graduate Digital Video Project RFP will award three $15K grants to create digital video shorts.

The NALIP WORLD Channel American Graduate Digital Video Project is a competitive open call to media producers to submit RFP (Request for Proposals) for digital video shorts in support of American Graduate: Let’s Make it Happen.

American Graduate: Let’s Make it Happen is a public media initiative made possible by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) to help communities address the high school dropout crisis and keep more students on the path to success in college and careers. The initiative supports the creation of national and local content that increases understanding and dialogue around the social, economic, and policy complexities surrounding the dropout issue and highlights solutions to help spur action at the local level.

Call for Submissions: The fifth edition of the International Cinema Festival for the Equality of Gender is already open.

After the success of his fourth edition, the Festival Mujeres en Foco is opening its doors once again in order to receive shorts and feature films produced by men and women from all parts of the world whose art seeks to promote and protect women’s’ rights and the equality of gender.

Deadline will be April 30, 2014. In order to participate, films must have been produced no earlier than the year 2012 and must fall into one of the following categories: documentary, fiction, experimental or animation. Only material that fits these qualifications will be accepted.

Call for Entries: Filadelfia Latin American Film Festival:
The Third Filadelfia Latin American Film Festival (FLAFF), to be held Friday, April 25 through Sunday, April 27, 2014, launches its inaugural LOLA Award for best documentary and best short (30 minutes or less) films. FLAFF's LOLA Award will recognize and honor great filmmaking achievements, including direction, acting, cinematography, script writing, and storytelling. FLAFF's LOLA Award will be granted to Latin American and Latino/a filmmakers working in the United States or abroad.

Documentary and short film submissions are now being accepted. Best documentary film and best short film will be determined by a jury of film experts and makers. For more information on submission guidelines and process, visit www.flaff.org.

Call for Submissions: IDFA Bertha Fund

The IDFA Bertha Fund supports documentary filmmakers in and from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and parts of Eastern Europe (eligible countries) by offering them financial contributions to complete their projects. The fund is looking for new creative documentary projects from these countries, which can be submitted in the following categories: (1) Project Development (max. contribution €5.000), (2) Production, and (3) Post-production (max. contribution €17.500).

Upon selection, the IDFA Bertha Fund will work with the filmmakers to determine which form of assistance and coaching is necessary for the project.

Applications for documentary festivals are not accepted for the February deadline.

The deadline to submit a project for the first selection round of 2014 is February 1.

Call for Applications: NALAC Fund for the Arts.
Launched in 2005 by the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures with major support from the Ford Foundation, the NALAC Fund for the Arts provides a variety of grants to assist US-based Latino artists and arts organizations in the development, creation, presentation and sustainability of artistic excellence, as well as the opportunity to participate in activities that contribute to professional and organizational growth.

The NFA is a national grant program open to US-based Latino working artists, ensembles and Latino arts organizations that demonstrate artistic excellence in pursuit of social justice through the arts. To date, the NFA has awarded over one million dollars to a diverse range of artists and organizations representing every discipline and region of the country. Applying to the NFA is a benefit of NALAC Membership.
DEADLINE TO APPLY: Complete applications must be submitted online no later than February 6, 2014.
NOTIFICATION: June 30, 2014

Deadline Approaching: Film Independent's Documentary Lab

Designed to help filmmakers who are currently in post-production on their feature-length documentary films, the Documentary Lab is an intensive seven-week program that runs in Los Angeles in March and April. The Lab’s focus is twofold: (1) provide creative feedback and story notes to the selected filmmakers; and (2) help filmmakers strategize the completion, distribution, and marketing of their film.

Additionally, the program serves to advance the careers of the Lab Fellows by introducing them to film professionals who can advise them on both the craft and business of documentary filmmaking. Lab Fellows have several guest-speaker sessions with established documentary filmmakers – directors, producers, and editors – and other industry professionals.
