Landlord thinks it’s ok to prop dozens of units open like this for hours, with the residents not home. Is this legal?
So my building is painting doors today and tomorrow, and said they’d prop the doors to let it dry. I asked for mine to be done all in one day so my cats don’t have to spend two days in the bathroom. I came back early and it was propped open like this, with one one around. When I saw someone I asked what was up, and he said he wouldn’t let people in and I didn’t have to worry. I asked him how he’d know who lives where and he didn’t have an answer. This is absurd right? Anyone could have walked in and out and just lied about living here!

Contractor fell through our apartment ceiling
We are renting an apartment in Oklahoma. They have had heat n air guys put in new AC units. while working in our attic above our bedroom the worker stepped one the wrong beam or something cause our ceiling to cave in. Are we responsible for the damage to the mattress or any of our property that was damaged? We and other tenants have reported issues with the flooring in the upstairs apartments worried we would be the ones going through but didn't think about it happening to us.

Landlord hired roofers who left my house in unbelievably bad condition (AZ)
My landlord hired roofers and said they would gain access to the apartment to cover our belongings. We were out of town and gave them permission to enter the unit without us present. They clearly did not cover anything and we came back to an apartment COVERED in dirt and debris. I’m confident it will damage some of our electronic belongings and our really nice coffee maker that we just bought used. We are staying with family tonight because the apartment is so dusty it makes your throat hurt. What can we do?

Leasing company sealed living squirrels in my walls, what do I do??
live in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I put in a maintenance ticket back in January to have holes sealed up at the edge of my roof where squirrels had gotten in and I could hear them chewing at the wood in the walls on a regular basis. Month after month I would contact the leasing company for my house anyway I could to ask when this was going to get resolved.

Yesterday they finally came out with a crane and did this metal work and expanding foam job, cutting down my little library to reach it.

I thanked them for finally relieving me from the sounds of squirrel's chewing apart the insides of the house I'm living in. Unfortunately about 2 hours later I hear the same chewing sounds I've heard for months, but this time it was obvious that the squirrels were trapped inside my house and trying to get out.

The picture I've attached is one of the squirrel's arms struggling through a tiny opening in the metal work.

I've created multiple maintenance tickets of high importance both yesterday and today, today's being listed as an emergency. I tried calling their office and got a voicemail, and after hours I tried calling them and selected I had an emergency maintenance request, but each time it rings a few times and then automatically hangs up on me. I try to leave a voicemail and it just says their voice mailbox is full.

I don't know what to do. I can't get a hold of anyone at the leasing company, the roof is three stories up, and those squirrels have probably 18 hours max before they die of dehydration, at which point my heart will break and I'll have multiple animals rotting in my walls.

Like a horror novel I can hear them just scratching and chewing desperately trying to get out of what has been their home for months, and has become their crypt.

What do I do? Who do I contact? My current only plan is to get up as early as possible and drive to their headquarters and hope that someone's actually there. (Sometimes there's just no one at the office in the middle of the week).

I'm just listening to animals dying in my walls and the people who sealed them in there have made themselves unreachable.

Raised Seams/Lines In New Roof
Hello, friends. Currently having a new home built and noticed today that there seems to be raised lines or seams in the roof, which is approximately 6 months old. The builder says it’s normal but I worry there could be something more to it. I don’t think I’ve noticed the in a roof before. Is some of the sheathing unsecured?

My parents were just charged $2,000 for a roofing repair that turned into a complete nightmare.
They originally contacted Angi because of a leak in their porch roof that was causing the ceiling to sag. My dad is 80, and just wanted a straightforward repair.
Instead, they went through three different contractors.
The first replaced the original wood ceiling slats from a 1903 home with vinyl, which failed after the first rain.
The second contractor inspected the roof and said it was beyond his scope.
The third showed up, claimed he was sent by Angi, took $2,000 for a “patch job,” and then completed work that did not actually resolve the issue.
When I followed up with Angi, they stated they had no record of anyone named Cody, and that a different contractor was actually assigned. There now appears to be a serious mismatch between who was dispatched and who actually performed the work.
We’re not expecting to recover the money, but this has been a very frustrating experience and a reminder of how vulnerable elderly homeowners can be when dealing with urgent home repairs.
Be very careful with contractor referrals—verify identities before any work begins or payments are made.

Do i need new roof? We found some rat during the home renovation, and got contractor checked the roof. The contractor is recommanded by renovation company, after seal the hole (first picture). They suggested the shingles need to replace. I am in toronto area, not sure they are telling the truth. The roof was done in 2017, so almost 10 years. Any suggestion would be appricIated

How would you complete this transition?
I'd like to put just standing seam on my garage for the time being. Shingles at about half their lifespan. Is it possible to accomplish this without removing all the shingles above the valley? This is a gable roof connecting to one side of a hip roof. The hip shingles are what would remain and the gable roof standing seam. Been trying to get into touch with some contractors near me on quotes for such a project but no one has been getting back to me.

I plan to have solar installed as soon as the roof is upgraded, hence the reason for only doing part of the roof standing seam for now.
