I’m 61, been a slave to the demon to***co since I was 16. I have lost count of the amount of times my wife and kids asked me to stop. I have tried many different methods but none worked for me, I effectively gave up giving up.
Then, my granddaughter came up to me when I was in the garden having a cigarette, and I said “stay away sweetheart I am smoking” she replied “ I always want to talk to you but I never can because you’re always smoking.”
Today I celebrate 100 days smoke free, just going cold turkey.
Grandkids are awesome.

Not very dull, but after that post about young people not being able to read the time, I thought I'd share my watch, that is probably extra difficult for anyone to read.

My wife caught me yesterday making a list...of all the phrases that annoy me. She called me " Miserable " ( As if 😟)
On my list was - Rainbow Bridge, My Happy Place, Wine o Clock, passed ( instead of died)
What are yours?
( Banana nor required as there is no scale to mu Miserableness - apparently)

I shall be writing a stern letter of complaint to the makers of this product
Edit a few people have enquired if this is an original post. It really is. Our rescue dog Mahjong, chewed on the chew stopper on Sunday evening. My wife had bought it and left it somewhere silly where he obviously found it. I found it as amusing and richly ironic as many of you seem to as well 🙂

Not sure if this would be considered dull but I'm curious, given that this group is eclectic in it's number of nationalities I'm wondering what breed of dog you would call my dog in your country.
This is Milo, we adopted him coming up on 5 months ago, he's 7.
I know he won't be everyone's cup of tea but no mean comments please.
50, Scottish, size 7 in DM, wouldn't wear crocs if my life depended on it lol, bananas are in the kitchen and I'm not.

I was recently in a place that lets you paint your own pottery and saw this pre painted item. There is nothing written at the bottom just a piece of bread/toast and an avocado.
Can anyone actually tell me what it means?
40, male, didn’t paint anything as I was too busy thinking about this tile.

Yesterday I had hot cross buns smothered in butter for tea. Which is very normal and dull for Good Friday in England. However I do wonder if our colonial cousins in America and Australia have the same custom? Or do they even have hot cross buns?

Found this in my attic and it’s not something I remember putting there. Can I assume it’s not clever marketing for the next season of Stranger Things?
Things could go two ways - dull, I leave it until winter - or undull, I attack and probably get stuck to within an inch of my life.
Recommendations? The duller the better.
(No banana as bringing sweet fruit into the attic could have had consequences.

I was a letter carrier (ie Mailman) for a while and more than one of the houses had mailboxes like these because they were tired of having to replace their mailbox due to kids playing mailbox baseball.
I thought it was genius but was surprised to learn that quite a few people were horrified because it might harm the kid hitting it with a bat.

Not to cause a stir, but today I learned that there is a tiny design hidden in the American one dollar bill that is the center of quite a bit of debate. Some speculate it is an owl, some say it is a Masonic symbol, others say it is a spider responsible for all the webbing design. Most agree it is a design element that is intended to deter counterfeiting. What are your thoughts? I trust the Dull Men's community to have good answers.
Updated to add: thank you for all your answers, I knew I could count on this group to be both entertaining and informative. So far spider seems to be winning out, followed closely by owl, and Batman (lol). Special shout-out to the Mothman, of course!

When I boil water in a pan, I fill it with very hot water from the tap. My wife puts cold water in and lets it boil that way.
I’m convinced her way uses way more energy.
It hasn’t yet led to an argument, but I’m convinced I’m right.
I need a dull Gas or Central Heating expert to confirm my theory.
