Comfort food is about more than the food 🤍

It can be about feeling safe, thinking of a fun memory, or sharing something special with the ones you love.

Since I’ve been a little under the weather the past few days (thanks back to school season 🤪), I was craving something cozy for breakfast 🍳

French toast immediately came to mind because my mom used to make it all the time when I was little.

So, using a few healthier ingredients, improvising as I went, and hoping for the best, I made some!

Thankfully, it turned out SO good (I wrote down what I did so I could make it again 😆).

A little comfort food, a little nostalgia, and the first hint of fall 🍂

What’s a meal that instantly reminds you of home?

Back-to-school prep isn’t just backpacks and lunchboxes 😅

I’m also trying to get our home stocked with the things I want to have on hand before someone needs them.

Having a few wellness staples ready to go gives me a little more peace of mind once the school-year chaos begins 🤍

Still figuring a lot of this out, but these are a few few things. I’m trying to remind myself of lately 🤍

There will always be laundry, work, content, errands, dishes… The list literally never ends. Sometimes the most productive thing I can do is stop.

This one is HARD For Me. I’m learning that resting isn’t something. I have to deserve by checking everything off my list first.

I’m slowly letting go of the idea that everything needs to be done the hardest/cheapest/most efficient way possible. If something makes life easier, sometimes that’s enough.

I love being a mom. But I’m also a woman who loves fashion dancing, creating traveling, getting my nails done and approximately 1000 other things 😆

I’ll be starting a series that dives into this a little bit more so keep an eye out for it 👀 I’m so excited about it!

This is a big one for me. If there’s something I wanna try, I’m trying to find a way to make room for it, instead of constantly saying, “ maybe someday.”

And part of being present for them means taking care of myself, too. I want my boys to grow up, knowing that they’re worth isn’t tied to how much they accomplish.

Maybe that’s actually the best part of getting older. You don’t have to have everything figured out — you just get a little better at figuring out what matters to you.

What are you figuring out as you get older?

Back to school means back to preparing lunches the day before 😅

I’ve always enjoyed packing up something special for my guy 🤍

He requested a sandwich even though I told him we didn’t have cheese slices. We opted for shredded cheese instead and it worked because his lunchbox came back totally empty (yay 🥳).

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how quickly life seems to be passing by.

I’m the kind of person who always feels like I should be doing something.

If I’m sitting down, I’m thinking about the laundry I should fold, the content I should edit, the lunch I should be packing for work the next day.

If I have a free hour, I’m trying to figure out how to make it productive.

Between a full-time job, trying to be a present mom, keeping up with two little boys, and building two social media accounts, there is always something I could be doing.

But I’m realizing that constantly doing isn’t the same thing as living.

So I’ve been trying to be more intentional about rest. Not the kind where I’m sitting down but mentally making a to-do list 😂 — actual, purposeful rest.

Because I don’t want my boys to grow up believing that their worth is tied to how much they accomplish, how productive they are, or how busy they can keep themselves.

I want them to see that it’s okay to slow down. It’s okay to do nothing. It’s okay to enjoy a moment without needing to make it productive.

And if I’m asking them to learn that, that means I have to practice it too, right? 🤍

So here’s your reminder—and mine—to leave a little room for doing absolutely nothing once in a while.
