"The Friend" - A reminder of what truly matters in these challenging times Have you ever loved a dog so deeply that the relationship transformed you? If so, the film "The Friend" will speak directly to your heart. This beautiful movie follows the unlikely pairing of Iris (a writer who is decidedly NOT a dog person) and Apollo (an expressive Great Dane) - both grieving the su***de of Walter, who was Apollo's owner and Iris's mentor. Without asking permission, Walter left Apollo to Iris, who lives in a tiny Manhattan apartment where dogs aren't allowed. What unfolds is a tender exploration of how grief can be healed through unexpected connections. The film captures something profound about the impossibly short yet deeply meaningful time we share with our animal companions. During difficult times like these, we need to focus our attention on what opens our hearts and uplifts our spirits. This film reminded me of my own beloved dogs, Skugga and Bella, who both recently crossed the rainbow bridge. The grief is real, but so is the gratitude for having shared my life with these dear friends
