MY GROOM SMASHED MY FACE INTO THE CAKE DURING THE CAKE CUTTING AS A "JOKE" — I WAS NEARLY IN TEARS WHEN MY BROTHER SURPRISED EVERYONE.
When I welcomed my fiancé, Ed, to meet my family, it was just my mom and my older brother, Ryan. Our dad had passed away when Ryan and I were young. They both took a liking to Ed, and plans were in motion for a wedding with 120 guests.
On the big day, everything seemed ideal: my mom radiating happiness in her seat, Ryan dressed sharply in his suit, and Ed smiling as though he were the luckiest man on earth.
I felt like the happiest girl alive!
As we prepared to cut the cake, I envisioned a lovely, Pinterest-inspired moment — our hands together guiding the knife, the first slice shared between us. Instead, Ed grinned and SLAMMED my face into the cake.
The guests gasped.
My veil, my dress, my makeup, my hair — all ruined.
I was frozen in shock, embarrassment swelling within me, feeling that all the shame, anger, and disbelief might lead me to cry at any moment.
Some guests laughed awkwardly. My mom covered her mouth in shock. Ed laughed as if it were the most hilarious thing ever, swiping a bit of frosting from my cheek and tasting it. "Mmm. Sweet," he said.
At that moment, I noticed my brother abruptly push back his chair and stand up, his jaw set. What he did next was completely unexpected for everyone in the room. The entire hall fell silent. 😨
