Yesterday I got a little reminder that I didn’t even realize I needed! ✨
I joined a moms’ outing at The Falls hosted alongside Krystal | The Inclusive Mama and Miami Moms Between Meetings , many of these ladies create community and support for moms raising children with autism. I wasn’t sure if the outing was meant specifically for them, or those with younger kids so I asked, and their response was basically “Nope all moms are welcome.” 🥹 And I’m so glad I went! We walked around, popped into a few stores, enjoyed some little treats (and a sangria that I STILL need someone to tell me what was in it because WHEW 😂🍷), we talked, laughed, and simply enjoyed a few hours out.
No big production, no elaborate plans, and I came home feeling SO relaxed! The funny part is that I’ve spent the last few months working incredibly hard creating workshops and experiences specifically for women to do exactly that, to step away from everyday life for a couple of hours, get creative, connect with other women, and have some time that’s just theirs.
And somewhere along the way, I think I forgot that I need those moments too. My season of motherhood looks very different now, I’m not doing school drop-offs, homework, carpool, physicals, or packing lunches anymore. My boys are grown 💙 one is out on his own and the other is finishing his master’s. But being surrounded by moms in so many different seasons of motherhood reminded me that while our day-to-day may look completely different, we ALL need moments where we get to put down whatever we’re carrying and just be women for a little while 💖
Whether you’re dropping your little one off for their first day of school, navigating the teenage years, dropping one off at college, or watching your grown babies build lives of their own, you’re still YOU underneath the title of Mom.
And sometimes you need to go out, meet other women, laugh, wander around a mall, drink a suspiciously effective sangria, and do something that requires absolutely nothing from you! 🚫 (continued in comments) ⬇️
