Welcome to Basil & Brushes! Who am I? My name is Jaycee and I am a Chef • Graphic Designer • Artist • Mom • Fiancé • Student• Certified Pharmacy Technician• and MORE!

I spent over 25 years in the Food, Beverage, and Hospitality industry, including attending Culinary School and building a career as a Chef. After many rewarding years serving guests and leading kitchens, life took an unexpected turn.

A sudden and severe illness left me fighting for my life, enduring multiple hospital stays, sepsis, organ failure, blood transfusions, and the need for a feeding tube. More than once, doctors warned me that I might not survive.

During those long days in the hospital, I reflected on what truly made me happy: creating. I remembered the joy of making crafts during my free time, especially designing hair bows for my two daughters.

I made myself a promise: If I get through this, I will spend my life doing more of what brings me happiness. I survived — and from that promise, Basil & Brushes was born.

Fast forward to today: the Basil & Brushes studio is always buzzing with creativity! We recently launched our online store and receive regular orders and custom requests through email and social media. As a one-woman operation, I spend most of my time in the studio creating inventory for our online shop, vendor events, craft fairs, and beyond.

Did I return to being a Chef?
While I still cook and occasionally take on personal chef opportunities, I chose not to return to the restaurant industry. Instead, I’m giving back by joining the healthcare community that saved my life. I’m now a Certified Pharmacy Technician, working toward my degree in Health Science — all while passionately growing Basil & Brushes
