CCFR Partners with CCSO and CCDS to Promote E-Bike and E-Scooter Safety Throughout August

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. --
As students return to school and the popularity of electric bicycles and electric scooters continues to grow, Clay County Fire Rescue (CCFR) is partnering with the Clay County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) and Clay County District Schools (CCDS) throughout August to promote safe riding habits, educate riders on the rules of the road, and reinforce the importance of sharing the road safely.

The month-long campaign uses education and public awareness to help prevent crashes and reduce injuries across the community.

Safety reminders include:

E-bikes can reach speeds of up to 28 mph.
Obey traffic laws by stopping at stop signs, yielding when appropriate and riding in the same direction as traffic.
Riders under the age of 16 are required to wear a helmet, though helmets are recommended for riders of all ages.
Stay alert for pedestrians and announce your presence when approaching from behind.
Use lights and reflectors when riding after dark to improve visibility.
Throughout August, CCFR, CCSO and CCDS will share safety tips and educational resources to help riders understand the rules of the road and keep Clay County's roads, sidewalks and neighborhoods safe.
