With the announcement by Democrat Ann Kuster's impending retirement from Congress, the People of NH’s Second District will have a renewed opportunity in November to elect their new representative. The doors are wide open to both major parties.
Ann’s news brought me back to March 2009, when I announced my own interest in running for the Peoples’ 2nd CD seat. They call it “testing the waters”. At the time, the seat was made open by Democrat Paul Hodes, when he decided to run for the U.S. Senate. In the waters, I met many people; I listened more than I talked and I learned a great deal. I focused on the issues that matter most to average, everyday citizens. I found that it is easy to connect given that I genuinely shared the same interests and concerns. Whether it was radio interview, a group discussion, or a quick mention in the aisle of the supermarket, people responded favorably to my message and acknowledged that a better tomorrow was within our reach. I enjoyed all of it but the timing of the campaign, for me personally, was not lining up with the demands and I respectfully withdrew.
Today, amidst the fallout of the Biden Administration's war against traditional American values fueled by their doubling-down of glaring corruption, anti-American regulatory policies, wars, open borders, rampant crime, punishing inflation, and the list goes on---the hopes and dreams of many Americans remain dormant, unable to take root. It's so sad and irritating because it doesn't have to be this way.
In 2009, it was my sense that it was the most important election of my life time. Since then, I have come to witness that every election that comes along, is the most important. NH is in dire need of an authentic candidate that lives, breathes, and bleeds NH values. Oh, and last but certainly not least, the GOP candidate is going to have to support Trump's platform, or his/her campaign will be over before its starts.
The filing period is in June.
