I think itā€™s time to take a social media break.

Things in this world are heavy and things in my personal world are overwhelming - there are so many changes going on at once that itā€™s time for me to step back in order to breathe.

Iā€™ve always struggled with anxiety and lately it is at an all-time high. Years of dealing with overwhelm puts me into flight mode and yesterdayā€™s break away made me realize that sometimes hiding away is a good thing.

I need to step back and reevaluate to figure out if my new path is truly what I want or if Iā€™m just keeping on because itā€™s whatā€™s always been expected of me.

Because honestly, at this point Iā€™m just flat out tired of reinventing myself.
Iā€™ll still be creating but just for me right now.

I hope to come back to IG again in some capacity in August, but it might just be to share small personal posts and nothing more. Who knows.
Maybe over the next month Iā€™ll find refreshment and be back with new business things - or not. But I need to step away to find out.

I started with a simple pencil drawing on typing paper then attached it to watercolor paper where I could work through the mixed media college.

Itā€™s slow going but overall I am happy with the progress Iā€™m making in my Etsy shop.

The local bookshop I was doing really well consigning my artwork with has shut their doors, so I figured it was time to move the remaining items to my shop and just place my efforts there.

Larger work (12x14 and up) will be added soon - but small format art will still be my main love šŸ’—

I now have a new pair of ā€œwork pantsā€ thanks to a leaky marker and my lack of wearing an apron (that is literally hanging RIGHT beside me šŸ«£šŸ˜‚)

When your paint rag is too pretty to through away, it goes into the next painting!

I love starting with the collageā€¦it feels like an ā€œI Spyā€ game, lol.
Pieces of magazines, postcards, packaging, advertisements, and more go into the background.

Some of these will end up hidden, covered by gesso, mark making, and the focal point of the painting yet to come. But many times, there are hints and snippets peeking through the finished work which brings tons of interesting texture.
