What Is Biblical Repentance for Salvation?
Many think repentance means turning from sin to be saved—but the Bible calls that a work (Jonah 3:10), and we’re not saved by works (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Jonah 3:10 KJV — And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
Ephesians 2:8 KJV — For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Ephesians 2:9 KJV — Not of works, lest any man should boast.
True repentance is a change of mind—about sin, about yourself, and about trusting in Christ alone.
📖Biblical Salvation
Acknowledges they are a sinner and deserve a place in hell. (Romans 3:23, 6:23),
Realizes they cannot save themselves (Titus 3:5),
Trusts Christ alone for salvation (Acts 16:31, John 3:16, and Romans 10:9).
This is the kind of repentance toward God (Acts 20:21) that goes hand-in-hand with faith.
"Repentance from dead works" (Hebrews 6:1) means stop trusting in your own efforts and believe the gospel.
This doesn’t mean grace is a license to sin. No one needs permission to sin—we already do it.
But God chastens His children (Hebrews 12:6–8).
Salvation is not about fixing your life, but about placing your faith in Jesus who did the work for you!
📖 Salvation = Repentance (change of mind) + Faith (in Christ alone).
