I’m writing my story.
Not the sanitized version.
Not the version that makes everybody comfortable.
My truth.
After George Floyd was murdered in Minneapolis, I found myself standing in the middle of one of the most painful and politically divisive moments in American history. Like millions of others, I had questions,I had anger,I had beliefs I thought were settled.
But over time, the protests, the politics, Minneapolis, the people I encountered, and my own search for answers forced me to question everything including myself.
I went from supporting Black Lives Matter to becoming a Black Conservative. That journey wasn’t overnight, and it wasn’t because somebody told me what to think. It came from experience, disappointment, research, conversations, mistakes, and ultimately a decision to follow the truth wherever it led even when the truth challenged people I once stood beside.
Now I’m putting that journey into a memoir.
From BLM to Black & Conservative
How George Floyd, Minneapolis, and the Search for Truth Changed My Politics
By Chaz Neal
This isn’t just a political book.
It’s a story about identity, anger, accountability, growth, betrayal, redemption, and the courage it takes to admit when your perspective has changed.
I know some people won’t like what I have to say.
That’s okay.
I didn’t write this book to make people comfortable. I wrote it because my story deserves to be told and because sometimes the most important journey is the one that forces you to question what you thought you knew.
