📰THE SCOOP🗞️
OKAY so imagine this: A bright, warm & cozy space with huge windows bringing in tons of natural sunlight. There’s a long booth along the windows, plenty of tables & lounge chairs, plants throughout & warm wood tones contrasting with the white brick and black accents.☀️🌿
I had the pleasure of speaking with Sam, Unwind’s owner. He’s from Guangdong, China, he moved to Seattle before attending the U of M for finance & later earned his Master’s in Marketing in Virginia. He’s a coffee lover, Sam saved up to make Unwind happen & took the leap into opening his first shop.☕️
For my coffee nerds out here, they’re currently serving coffee roasted by SEY in Brooklyn, with beans from Peru & Ecuador. They also offer off-menu pour overs. He is constantly exploring coffee too—they recently sampled Onyx coffees, including a Gesha.🧐
Fun Fact: The bird in Unwind’s branding represents being able to land, hang out & preen for awhile—the same feeling Sam wants people to have here. No pressure to move on, just… Unwind.🐦

🤔FINAL THOUGHTS💭
Okay so this was a 2 part visit. Sunday was PACKED & he was training a staff member so we came back for chat on the Tuesday. I liked his story a lot, he is a guy that loves coffee & went all in on something he cares about. With no prior experience he put in a little extra in their time, equipment, & staff, really understanding the risk it of it all. The space is a cozy one to work at, coffee was solid, & the conversation was great. Go support them!👍🏼
