Breaking News!!!

This institution has been reliably informed that Speaker J Fonati Koffa and his team of representatives who have stood for the Rule Of Law of the Republic of Liberia have come to a Final conclusion to let go of the speakership ( Speaker Koffa to Resign).

In light of the above, speaker Koffa and his team have formally submitted a proposal and resignation letter to former President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf as a major stakes holder and a former president who doesn't have a political ambition and also due to her workings at the ECOWAS.

In the proposal letter the team and the government of Liberia reached at a Final point that speaker J Fonati Koffa will receive all his salaries and benefits as speaker of the house of representatives for the past months.

Moreover, all those representatives that were suspended by the majority bloc will begin to receive their salaries as of today's date ( May 1, 2025).

Meanwhile, Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf Sirleaf is expected to summit the letter of resignation to the chief clerk of the 55th house of representatives before house resume on the 13th of this month ( May).

It's expected that the chief clerk will place the letter of resignation on the Agenda during the resumption of the 55th house of representatives, thereby creating a vacancy for the speakership and the Deputy Speaker Thomas P Fallah will take charge of leading the house of representatives into an election in the period of Sixty( 60) days as mentioned in the house of representatives standing rules and orders.

PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
Date: April 28, 2025

𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀

The Majority Members of the House of Representatives hereby issue the following statement:

We acknowledged the recent ruling of the Honorable Supreme Court of Liberia and anticipate a re-argument which has been duly filed for clarity, correctness, and adherence to constitutional dictates and procedural questions currently before the nation.

It remains our position that Honorable J. Fonati Koffa has lost the confidence of the majority of his colleagues. This loss of trust fundamentally affects his ability to preside effectively over the proceedings of the House. It is our responsibility to ensure that the business of the Liberian people continues without disruption.

The public is assured that, upon the House’s return, the constitutionally required quorum, as stipulated under Article 33 of the Constitution of Liberia, will be firmly maintained. This will guarantee the continuity, legitimacy, and effectiveness of the House’s legislative functions.

Our unwavering commitment to the principles of the separation of powers and the respect for the constitutional roles assigned to each branch of government. In this regard, we stress that no branch should extend its authority beyond its constitutional mandate. The independence and integrity of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches are vital to the health of our democracy.

Importantly, we emphasize the application of the Political Question Doctrine, which holds that certain matters—particularly those involving the internal organization and governance of a co-equal branch—are non-justiciable. These matters are constitutionally entrusted to the political branches and are not subject to judicial intervention. In this instance, decisions regarding the leadership and internal management of the House of Representatives fall exclusively within the constitutional authority of the Legislature.

The Political Question Doctrine serves as a safeguard for the balance of powers, ensuring that political judgments remain the prerogative of elected representatives who are directly accountable to the people.

Finally, we commend the Executive Branch for its recent achievements in strengthening national security, promoting economic recovery, and enhancing Liberia’s standing in international diplomacy. These gains reflect a leadership committed to national progress, and we pledge our continued support and cooperation to advance the collective interests of the Liberian people.

CDC Statement on the Supreme Court’s Ruling: A Triumph for Democracy, a Warning to Tyranny

The National Executive Committee of the mighty Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) hails the landmark ruling of the Honourable Supreme Court of the Republic of Liberia as a resounding victory for the people, for the Constitution, and for Liberia’s fragile democracy, which continues to come under assault by those driven by greed, ego, and blind political ambition.

This ruling—rendered in response to the Bill of Information filed by the legitimate Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa—serves as a deafening rejection of the coordinated, illegal attempt by a desperate majority, aided by state actors, to usurp legislative authority and plunge the nation into constitutional crisis.

From the very beginning, the CDC stood firm and unshaken in its position that the illegal removal of Speaker Koffa was nothing short of a constitutional coup. Today, the highest court in the land has spoken—and its voice is clear: the law is supreme, and no man is above it.

Let this ruling serve as a mortal blow to those who have sought to undermine our democratic order through brute state power and unlawful manipulation. Let it be known that the CDC is no bystander in the face of tyranny. We are the vanguard of the people’s resistance, and we will never retreat in the defence of the Republic.

We commend Speaker Fonati Koffa for his boldness, consistency, and deep loyalty to the rule of law. His unwavering stand is a testament to the spirit of a new Liberia—a Liberia where the people, not political conspirators, determine the direction of the state.

In this historic moment, we must not forget the enduring example of Amb. George Manneh Weah, former President of the Republic and the undisputed paragon of peace, unity, and democracy. Even in the face of betrayal and provocation, President Weah chose country over chaos, stability over strife. His legacy stands in direct contrast to the reckless and divisive governance of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, who’s so-called “rescue mission” has become nothing but a risky mission—a desperate agenda marked by tribalism, economic mismanagement, and a growing hunger to centralize power at any cost.

We say this clearly and without fear: Mr. Boakai must desist immediately from the ongoing dismantling of Liberia’s democratic gains. His administration’s assault on constitutional order is a dangerous provocation—a recipe for national chaos that could return Liberia to the darkest chapters of its history. The CDC will not sit idly by as our nation teeters on the edge.

We therefore call on Speaker Koffa to lead with revolutionary grace and statesmanship, recognizing that this victory belongs not only to him or the CDC, but to every Liberian who believes in the rule of law. We urge him to break the artificial chains of so-called majority and minority blocs and unite the House around a shared vision of justice, inclusion, and accountability.

As always, the CDC remains the pillar of hope for the Liberian masses. We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to democracy, peace, and justice—but let it be known that we are ever ready to resist tyranny in all its forms. The people’s voice will not be silenced, and our revolution for a better Liberia marches on.

Update!!!

Youths in the region (Nimba County) have raised concerns after attending a three-day workshop organized by the National Elections Commission (NEC) for prospective observers.

They were fully qualified, and their names were included on the final observer list. However, insiders from NEC magistrates in Nimba revealed that their names had been replaced by individuals from Monrovia.

This situation raises serious alarms about the integrity of the election process. It is troubling that the NEC would choose to deploy individuals from Monrovia as observers in Nimba when qualified and trained local individuals are available.

What could their motives be from NEC? This unsettling development calls for transparency and accountability in the electoral process to ensure fair representation for the people of Nimba.

Let's watch the process and see.
