This is my first solo album release so any support is appreciated. Pass it along to your friends and share.

Here’s a little bit about the album:

I’ve had the title to this album for a long time now, and over the years it’s meant a bunch of different things. At this point in my life it has one specific meaning to me. That is the will to start over, and build again.

In 2020 I completely started my life over and moved to an island called Waiheke in New Zealand. My wife and I packed everything into a few duffle bags and left the US. I had no clue how hard it would be. No family, no friends, no work, and she was pregnant. We managed to get through the last 6 years and even had another kid. I pushed as hard as I could, and at times it felt impossible. If there’s one trait I have is to keep pushing even when knocked down over and over, and that I did. We made it through, and now this place is my home. I’ve accomplished a lot in my life, and feel quite blessed to be able to do all the things I’ve done. This was the toughest, and for all that, the gods must be crazy.

NEW SONG + ALBUM ANNOUNCEMENT
On October 6th, I’m releasing my new album, the gods must be crazy. 14 tracks of Sunday morning world music to dusty ’70s soundtracks backed with booming drums.

The first single, “the morning march,” is out now on all streaming platforms, and the full album is available to pre-order on Bandcamp.

Head to djlastword.com to listen.

A LITTLE ABOUT THE ALBUM:
While making The Sweetest of It All with , I recorded somewhere around 200 beats. We eventually recorded about 20 songs for that project, with 14 making the final album. As MaLLy picked the beats he wanted to write to, I started setting aside some of my favorites with the idea of eventually putting out a beat tape. Once I started going through them again and putting everything together, I realized it felt like much more than a collection of leftover beats. There was an album in there.

I sent a batch of songs to my man Jeremy Ylvisaker to see what he could add. He came back with guitars, bass lines and synths that completely opened everything up. From there, I chopped, arranged, rearranged and pieced it all back together.

The result is the gods must be crazy.
