High functioning depression doesn’t look like laziness, it looks like overworking, overthinking, and never resting.
You think they’re ok because they’re productive, but they only stay busy to avoid feeling anything.
They post funny memes, give solid advice, and hold everybody down, but when the world gets quiet, their thoughts get loud.
Their smile is practiced, their “I’m fine” is automatic, their breakdowns are private.
They keep it together in public, but fall apart in the shower, in traffic, or right before bed.
They make everyone feel better, but go home feeling empty.
So when I say please “check on your strong friends,” its because the ones who always say “I got it” are usually the ones who don’t. They suffer in silence. They laugh through pain. And they master how to function when they’re barely holding on. 🙏🏽💨

I'd be lying if I said I didn't get in my feelings about the way people treat me, but I've learned it's life & everybody isn't me.
Everybody don't show the same love I show, Care or React the way I do and that's ok. I DO have a choice to keep those people in my life or not. It doesn't make them bad people maybe just bad for me? Not everyone that passes through your journey is meant to stay and I'm ok with that.
