BEVVIE Soda is coming to Minneapolis!

After opening its first location in Woodbury, BEVVIE is growing with a second location near the University of Minnesota. And now, we can finally share where.

BEVVIE will open on the ground floor of Accolade at 2630 University Ave SE.

The new shop will be the first retail tenant at Accolade, the recently completed student housing development along University Avenue. BEVVIE will take the far-right storefront, immediately next to Cajun House in the neighboring building.

If BEVVIE is new to you, think of it as a different take on the soda shop.

The menu is built around custom drinks that start with familiar favorites and go from there. Dirty sodas layer classic sodas with syrups, fruit purees, creams and fresh garnishes, while the menu also includes protein dirty sodas, energy drinks, water refreshers, dirty teas and plenty of ways to make each drink your own.

It’s colorful, customizable and a little unexpected, which is very much the point.

And Minneapolis isn’t the end of the story. BEVVIE is already looking at a third location, although no details are being shared just yet.

You know that triangular parking lot by the Stone Arch Bridge? There’s a new plan for it.

A five-story affordable senior housing development with more than 100 apartments is being proposed for the site in Marcy Holmes.

If you’re trying to place it, it’s right across Main Street from Father Hennepin Bluffs Park, next to the giant University of Minnesota Southeast Steam Plant.

It’s a weird little piece of land, too. The site is squeezed between Main Street, railroad property and high-voltage transmission lines, so the building basically follows the shape of the lot as it gets narrower.

Plans also include new landscaping and a public bike and pedestrian connection along Main Street.

Bluff Street Development is behind the proposal, which went before the Minneapolis Planning Commission Committee of the Whole in June for early feedback.

[MINNEAPOLIS, MN] A new development concept is being explored for a vacant site near East Hennepin in Marcy-Holmes.

The property sits along 2nd Avenue SE, where several houses were cleared in recent years. It’s also next to the newer six-story residential building that’s part of 700 Central.

The idea? Nine three-story, for-purchase rowhomes.

It’s still very early and hasn’t entered formal city review. If the team moves it forward, a comprehensive plan amendment would be needed first.

Quick CAVA update. We’re now tracking six, including a new one.

UMN and Blaine are the two furthest along. Both are under construction, signage is up, and October still looks like the target opening from what we’re tracking. We asked CAVA about opening dates, but they’re not confirming anything yet.

Uptown should be one of the next locations to move into construction. CAVA is taking the former Noodles & Company space, and now that Noodles has closed, the buildout can begin. We’re currently expecting an early 2027 opening there.

Wayzata also looks like early 2027, although we still haven’t confirmed exactly where construction stands.

St. Louis Park is a little further out. CAVA is planned for Terasa, which is under construction now, but CAVA’s own buildout isn’t expected to start until mid-2027. That currently points to a late 2027 opening.

And then there’s the new one: Eden Prairie. CAVA is planned for the former Smashburger space at 8045 Flying Cloud Drive, with construction expected to start this fall and an early 2027 opening currently anticipated.

CAVA is also already hiring for UMN, Blaine, Uptown and Eden Prairie.

That brings the total to six CAVA locations across the Twin Cities.

What part of the metro are they still missing? West metro? Southwest? Northeast suburbs? Somewhere else?

You’ve been waiting. Bill’s officially opens Friday.

The canoe is up. The bobbers are lit. The bar is stocked.

Bill’s Bait Shop opens at 3101 East 42nd Street with fried walleye, oysters, burgers, po’ boys, cold beer, cocktails, pull tabs and maple-bacon bourbon soft serve.

The space is filled with green booths, vintage signs, fishing gear and pieces collected from all over. It’s playful, relaxed and packed with the kind of details you notice more of every time you look around.

Chef Max Thompson developed the menu. Nick Weiss created the cocktails. Behind the whole place is the story of Jami Olson’s grandfather, Bill, whose name and spirit run through it all.

Bill’s opens Friday, August 7th. Come hungry. Stay for a round.

That North Loop storefront everyone keeps asking about? We finally know what’s moving in. 😳

Twin Cities Pilates is taking over the former Rumble Boxing space at Viridium and opening its first Minneapolis studio there this fall.

The locally owned company already operates in Eagan and Edina, but this location brings something a little different to the North Loop. Twin Cities Pilates pairs group reformer classes with private instruction and traditional Pilates training, creating a studio built for more than one type of client or workout.

It is also a strong next chapter for a storefront that has been empty since May 2025, especially as the surrounding block adds more apartments, new businesses and a future public park.

🍻 **ALL IS NOT LOST. BAUHAUS WILL RETURN.**

ABV Technology has acquired Bauhaus Brew Labs and plans to reopen the Northeast Minneapolis taproom in August.

The two companies already have history. Bauhaus was one of ABV’s earliest customers, and they worked together to create Nah, the brewery’s nonalcoholic beer.

The Bauhaus name, beer, patio and events will remain, while the next version of the taproom will add cocktails, wine, THC beverages, more nonalcoholic options and an expanded food program.

If this building at Lowry and 2nd Street NE has ever caught your eye, we’ve got some exciting news to share. 🎉🍸🍕

The team behind Milly’s Wine Bar & Bistro has purchased the 1910 building at 200 Lowry Ave. NE and is planning a new restaurant for the space.

It won’t be a second Milly’s. Instead, the early vision includes scratch-made food, pizza, a larger dining menu, a martini-forward cocktail program and an Art Nouveau-inspired interior filled with plants and historic character.

The goal is to create a completely new neighborhood restaurant with its own menu, look and identity.

There isn’t an official name or an opening date yet, but you can be sure we’ll share more as the details come together.

[MINNEAPOLIS] After years of planning, a transformative project at Lake and Chicago finally has a name and is moving forward.

The Ruckus is Neighborhood Development Center’s vision for a new hub where entrepreneurs can launch, grow and collaborate. The four-story building will bring together event space, storefronts, offices and shared production space, creating room for businesses across a variety of industries.

The site has remained vacant since the buildings there were destroyed during the unrest that followed the murder of George Floyd in 2020. After several years of planning, the project is now beginning to take shape.

The latest plans provide the clearest look yet at what is proposed, and the Minneapolis Planning Commission has now approved the project’s key land-use applications.

Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2027.
