There’s a lot of buzz about “The Bikeriders,” the new movie hitting theaters on Friday that stars Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, and Norman Reedus. Of interest to us is the 1960s-era motorcycles used in the movie, most of them sourced by avid bike collector and stunt coordinator Jeff Milburn. Saw an advance screening of "The Bikeriders" and am pleased to report that it presents motorcycles authentically, unlike so many Hollywood movies! The bikes are all period-correct 1960s models, and their authentic sounds literally rumble your seats! Terrific performances throughout, especially from Tom Hardy (club leader "Johnny") and Jodie Comer, the love interest of "Bennie" played by Austin Butler. I had a fun couple of days riding the comprehensively overhauled Indian Scouts. Great to see Indian Motorcycle upping its game with this popular platform, with all-new frames and a bigger, burlier motor! Indian Motorcycle is set to release an all-new Indian Scout platform, and it posted a new video that shows a group of five bikes riding across a desert lakebed. Sadly, the low light doesn’t provide enough illumination to reveal many details, but there's enough to see to speculate about the bikes that will be revealed on April 2. Harley fans were elated to see an XR750 be the fastest bike in qualifying at last weekend's AFT race in Daytona, and they were thrilled to watch Slammin' Sammy Halbert take the win in the Mission Challenge race. Unfortunately, the vintage bike sprouted an oil leak while leading Thursday's Main Event and faded to 5th. Halbert also led Friday's Main Event on the Dodge Brothers XR, but he had to settle for 2nd place by the time the checkers flew. The XR's 503rd race win will have to wait for another day!
